PERSONAL COMMENTS AND ADJUSTMENTS
1. WAY less horse-based units
2. better AI that doesn't always horse rush at the begging of the battle
3. a better way for non-lords to get troops. It is near to impossible to become a lord without an ample supply of meat-bags (starting a mercenary guild maybe?)
4. WAY LESS LOOTERS AND BANDITS <-- unless getting troops is made easier, this needs to get fixed immediately, it's not fun to get surrounded by looters and bandits 3 minutes after starting the game. Maybe it could be added to recruit or even join bandits and looters?
5. more variety in units. Units at the current time are rather bland and lack any differential.
6. because of the high Calvary amount, the game runs very slowly, which is no fun for a bug tester.
TROOP/FACTION IDEAS AND COMMENTS
- Scottish look like English, which look like Irish. Different nations should have drastically different troops.
-(For inspiration for Scottish (and English) , you should watch "Braveheart".)
-(Historically speaking) The Scottish had lots of brawling mismatched infantry (similar to the viegars and nords in vanilla warband), light pikes to avoid Calvary charge, and weak shields for blocking archery barrages. Along with light Calvary to pick off stragglers. The archers should be used like skirmishers, and the heavy infantry could have two handed axes or swords, but most importantly, THE TROOPS NEED KILTS! <--- I cant be Scottish without a kilt right?
-The English troops should have way less Calvary but the Calvary it does use should be very heavy chargers with lances and short swords. Plus the infantry should be rather uniform with unmounted knights wielding Claymores as the high-pay infantry. Archers should have very light to minimal armor, along with small swords to defend with, but be deadly/accurate with long bows.
-The Irish could be mismatched rabble who are weaker than the Scottish with spears and light armor, but have the quality to raise at least 3x the amount of troops as other factions in 1/2 the amount of time. this should give the weak infantry a fighting change to surround and engulf an enemy.
-also the Irish troops could be just renamed bandits with much better stats once trained. Most Irish infantry were very poor farmers, and the soldiers should reflect that.
FINAL COMMENTS AND CONCLUSION
I had some trouble with this mod, but it's an excellent start. Because this is only in Alpha, I'm impressed with how it has been shaped, and I look forward to playing/testing it as this goes through builds. I hope many of the problems and solutions I have mentioned will be helpful, and I wish you good luck with the mod. I will continue to test it for bugs, along with submitting bug reports in the future.
