4: Guest suggestion - merchant job from guild master, royal family or some lord wants high quality products, silver 10x stacks, furs 10x stacks, fine cloths, dyes great amounts. Exp/good amount cash and relations boost for faction/city. Ok writing this down makes it sound pretty lame tbh.

to 2: no. a higher level of the prisoner doesn't mean he's a stronger or better worker, it just means he has more training and better gear as a soldier than the lower classes. That's why you get more ransom money for a lord then for a levy. But that doesn't affect their productivity in the mines.

to 4: great idea. And I think it's defenitely NOT lamer than driving a herd of cattle from A to B. Or escorting a caravan.
 
Would be nice if you could determine the amount of mercenaries you can hire. f.i. I don't need ten merc. captains i need only one or two. If you have an almost full party or out of cash then its possible but take to many actions to make it happen.
 
I want to thank again Brytenwalda team for this mod! It`s Epic. There are some suggestions:

1. Hunt wild animals not only for meat but also for furs and hides (it is strange to hunt wolfs for meat)

2. Make an animals are easier to kill. It is strange when i need to use 3-4 heavy javelins an many spear hits to kill a little deer. I thought that a bow in this game is only for hunting (because it`s useless in the battle), but now i understand that it is completely useless in all cases.

3. Make new items "dried boar meat, "dried Deer meat", etc. Make them more expensive than the ordinary dried meat, and more moral boosting (nice to have a standard dried meat picture but darker in color (wild meat is darker)).

4. When inspecting the camp, make all player companions (and may be some soldiers) stand there, and make player be able to speak with them.

5. Make the party be able to eat the food from the supply wagon. Make grain not edible (people do not eat grain, they eat bread which made of flour, which made of grain))

6. When you`re in the hall of your lair, make the guy who tell you about your finances (he stands in the village center usually) stand there.

7. When you are in the city, make an option in the supply wagon menu "sell all in this city". Now i need to go out of the city, select city to trade with, send it, and wait it come back. To many silly manipulations :smile:

8. Reduce moral penalty When traveling by the sea on your own ship. If you have a ship, your soldiers feel themselves a cool pirates. So their moral is much higher (not like on a "taxi ship"). And there is no much sense for me to spend 25000 on a ship with the same moral penalty as the "taxi"

9. Make massages filter (sieges, battles, diplomatic statuses). Make the player to be able to switch them off, leave only news which connected to his faction. There are too many of them on the screen and they are not very valuable.

10. It is annoying when there are to many big pictures on whole screen (factions made peace, war, alliance, etc.) one after another. Maybe it is better to make one picture? List of factions which made peace in one column, declare a war - in another and so on... Like in TotalWar series.

11. When you are assessing the local prices - write them down somewhere in reports. Because ancient cities names a too hard to remember (especially for the russian guy), and i forgetting them quickly)

12. Make the player and his companions able to be equipped with only one shield and one pack of ranged weapons of the same type. Please, return protection of the players back then he carrying a shield behind. In vanilla i always was equipped with two shields: one in my hand, second on my back protecting it  from the arrows or cavalry strike. Now it isn't working. Yes, it is not realistic to wear two shields, but the "ghost shield" behind your back which doesn't protect it when you are running from the dozens of archers - it is nonsense. I suggest to return to a shield its normal functions, but prohibit the usage of two shields at the same time. The same to the ranged weapon. You can`t use two packs of javelins (you have space only for one on your back), two francisca, to packs of darts at the same time, but you can use one pack of javelins + one pack of darts + francisca and so on...

13. When you build improvements in the village - make them visible when you are walking around the village center. I`ve been waiting for 7 days to see the Forest of the Old Celtic Gods... (((

14. When you have a cattle herd, make an option in the village dialog menu "give a cattle to this village". It is a good way to improve your relations with the village by stealing a cattle from another.

15. If your companion have a hight trading skill - let him go, and do for you a trading report. List of goods and cities where you can buy it cheap and sell expensive. Select goods, and there are two columns: first "buy" (cities where you can buy it. from cheapest to most expensive), second "sell" (analogically)

16. When you try to dry some meat in the camp menu - select how many items you want to dry (like in a cattle menu). If i have 12 items of beef, i don`t want do dry them all (it takes a lot of time, by the way)

17. When walking around your camp - add a shooting target for practice and fun.

18. When you sieging a castle, make a possibility to sent companion for a help to a friendly lord (if you are the marshall) without breaking the siege.

19. When you choose "I want to start a new campaign. Let us assemble the army here" give an option to chose another place to meet at (faction town, castle, village, your lair). Now there is a serious bug about your lair (no matter where is your party situated at the present time) - the lords are riding not to you, but to your lair and disappear there.

20. Add an orders to the "i have a new task for you" menu  like "Besiege a castle", "Loot the village", "Catch up and start the battle with the enemy lord" (it is useful when your army is too slow and you enemy is too fast for you to catch, the fast ally can help to chase him down and start the battle)

--> concerning the hunting section, these are really good suggestions. especially getting furs from wolves! a good and realistic way to get good money.

--> we suggested that weeks/months ago. but i think thats too much work to do for little (even if awesome) effect, if i remember Adorno´s statement correctly.
 
Interesting, is it possible for mod to make a one more slot for the character equipment? Special for cloaks. So you can wear both - cloak and helmet)
If so, make cloaks very expensive (15000 - 25000 scillingas)...  And may be +1 persuasion or trading skill...

And add a smith NPC. You can give him two armor items. The first one you like because of its specs, the second because of its cool look. He will mix them and do for you custom armor with specs of the first one and look of the second. The same he can do to the shields, helmets, cloaks, may be swords... It is because i love Blue Lamellar Armor with Anglo helmet, but they unfortunately are to weak (( He also can do for you a large pack of balanced or heavy javelins...

Or put a cool red plum on an An Anglo helmet ))
 
21. When right click on the city, add "Sent supply wagon to this city" option.  It will save a lot of time.

Also, some expensive and beautiful cloaks can add some moral to your party (you look cool, your troops respect you), make some restrictions for wearing them (agility 10-12)
 
22. Mills give you a 5% additional profit from the village. If i have 735 normally, i will get +36 scilingas. It`s ridiculous! 36 scilingas... 5% is nothing! Maybe it will be better to increase it to 15% or 20%?

23. Why girls in this game don't have their own rooms?) Where i suppose to love her? On her fathers table?) It would be interesting if they will have their own rooms (if it possible)

24. The most cool thing about M&B "With Fire And Sword" is that you can equip your soldiers the way you like it. Why there is nothing like this in such great mod as Brytenwalda? When you become a king, you can be able to modify equipment in the upgrade tree! Compose your own equipment set for each unit. It would be cool. You can have your own army, your own uniform! Dress them in a blue armor, red cloaks, and you will no longer need those stupid round banners above their heads! But now, unfortunately, there is no difference between enemy soldiers and yours...
 
AlxGvr, your suggestions are good (mostly) but a bit unpractical dont you think?
For example the lady's rooms. That really would be cool, but it's a lot of designer work for
nearly no use. The player dates only a few ladies in the game, and if you really trie you can get a women with
a few visits, due to the poems.
More over, I don't think she'll let the hero **** her before they're married. The risk would just be too high :wink:

Soldiers at that time had to equip themselves, so it's unrealistic that a king could choose the equipment of his soldiers.
But a good thing would be, if the shields would show the players emblem. Although I'm not sure if some don't do it already.

As for the mill, it really would be good to increase the benefit you get for it. 5% is indeed a bit low. A building like a mill is a HUGE improvement for a village,
as they normally had to make their flour by hand (literally).


edit: just found out that "ladies' room" means the toilet for the women. ehm, in this post i mean the personal chamber of the noblewoman, of course :smile:

You are right, ladies room doesn't worth the designer work. But how about Forest of the Old Celtic Gods? :smile:
Maybe for guys who have created such beautiful castles and cities  it is not too difficult to place a mill or church model in to the village scene?)

P.S. how about a breath vapor coming from players mouth in the winter?  :roll:

That would mean you'll have to edit the scene of every single village in the game and make copy of villages, one with celtic shrine, one with chapel, one with germanic shrine ... which would surely mess up with the "find the hiding outlaw quest" and maybe more.

I love how darts look on a character model, but they are too weak (
And it will be more sense to use bows...
 
Some more:

25. When you have your own castle and there are too many prisoners in there (much more than you can take with your party) its would be nice to have an option to "invite a ransom broker". After couple of days he will appear in your Hall and you can sell him all your prisoners. Another chance to invite him will be not earlier than one or two weeks after he leaves.

26. It could be handy to leave your supply wagon in your castles and cities for some time.

27. Also, it would be handy to have a "commanders tent" in your camp scene screen (there are many tents already)), so you can walk inside and find there your ministers (Constable, Chamberlain). So you can rule your kingdom from any distant land. (Why not? Napoleon did this from a small russian peasant house in 1812)). Or they may stay in your kingdom, and for your campaign you can hire some vice ministers) Anyway, it will be another good reason to inspect your camp and see all that cool designers work) 

28. Decrease the amount of hours (now it 100) needed to "build circunvalation" around besieged castle. 100 hours is more than 4 days! Now this feature is useless. I think,  nobody use it.

29. It would be nice if javelins would be a little more accurate :smile: (or darts will cause more damage)

30. I can let the enemy lord go away just after i won the battle. "You are free to go" option. It would be cool if he can do the same :smile: If you have very good relations with enemy lord - he can let you go away after you lost the battle and not take you as a prisoner (you will lose no money, no items)

31. It would be great if you can give orders during siege from a siege menu (being a marshall) to your lords to support you with food or men. (Very realistic, isn't it?) Or just come and stand near you, wait for assault. Use your companions as messengers. It would be great to use your companions as messengers anytime to give orders to your lords if they are far from you just like you do it when you speak with them.

32. It would be useful to point which specifically type of units from your castle garrison you want to train (light, medium, heavy). I have 200 men in my castle (all types), and i think it will take a couple of years (not in the game, but in my life) to train some fresh recruits between them.

33. It would be very informative if in the Notes screen, when you read information about village or city, to mention  its nationality. Because in "upgrade tree" there are only nationalities (Saxon, Pict...) And its religion also.

34. Use your companions like merchant captains. Give them troops. But only if they have hight leadership skill! (will be a reason to raise it). Reduce the amount of mercenary captains i can hire at once from 6 to 1. Why i need to pay for 6 of them if i will use only 1? They are expensive by the way...

35. Make an option in the camp menu where you can set soldier balance for battle beginning and reinforcement waves in % (infantry, cavalry, archers) just like you do it when you start a custom battle. And report how many soldiers of each type you currently have in your party (summary infanry, archers, etc.) Because it is impossible to know that if you have more then 100 men (there are too many slots..)

36. After the battle you can free all the prisoners which were captured by the enemy and hire them in your army. Depending on your persuasion skill and renown make some of them happy about it and some not. Those who not - just walk away. It's like "You free 60 men. 30 of them want to join your party" So you can`t hire all of them anymore, it will depend now on your persuasion skill and renown.

37. Cool if i could drop the enemy off the wall with some hard kick :smile:

Or take any NPC (traveler, merchant in the mead hall or goods trader or guild master) make a dialog option where you can ask about goods you interested in (choose it from the list) and he will name you two or three cities where you can sell it expensive (and show for how much), and another two where you can by it cheap. I think it better to be a goods trader (will be a reason to walk around the streets and see those beautiful cities again)
 
There are some ideas in here I like and many I think will greatly damage playability.  Please allow me to shut off or deactivate significant future modifications.

I have trouble knowing what town and lords people are refering to when discussing them in mission.  Sometimes I accept only to find out that the village in question is somewhere out of reach, like in Ireland or enemy territory.  This could be solved somewhat if the names were colour coded.

There is no much sence to use a helmets in this game if you can use cloaks instead of them. Because it is not a big chance to catch a headshot, especially if you are mounted. Cloaks give you additional body and legs protection, so they are preferred. With that kind of hit it will be more reasons to use helmets.

39. It`s realistic thing... You know, romans didn`t use their ranged weapons (pilums) to kill. They used it to damage enemy`s shields, and slow down their speed because of the weight. Also enemy couldn`t manipulate it in formation anymore (because of the pilum`s length) So they just dropped away their damaged shields with pilums stacked in to them. In M&B you can have a dozens of javelins, franciscas, and other ranged weapons stacked in your shield and it will not affect your shield speed anyhow. So if it is a realistic mod, may be there is some sense to slow down a bit your shield speed if you have such problems? There more you get, the slowest your movements will be.

Or I would increase the damage thrown weapons do to a shield (maybe giving them the shield-destruction-bonus). That way it's possible to simulate, that the shields become useless with a lot of spears/axes in them, without having the difficulties writing a programm/algorithm of slowing down the shield speed.
