suggestions about quests

Quest you get for joining one of the sides should scale to your level (or your rank in the army which seems to me is more appropriate). Here are some more specific suggestions.

You shouldn't be able to get quests from each count all the time. Sometimes they could just say: "I have nothing for you to do. Try one of the other counts/cities".

Once in a while, king or counts could send messagers to get you for a important quest they have for you. Messagers could be some sort of a party on a world map or could just pop up whenever you're on the world map.

Kings should give you quests only after you reach certain rank in the army, and their quests should be more difficult and could give greater rewards (i.e. some equipment you couldn't get otherwise).

This is something like the copy of a system in Daggerfall.. which is not bad, but their world is a LOT bigger.

Try Mag7 mod, you would get equipment and other neat things ::\

Ye, but level requirement for quests aren't enough.
like in my suggestion Thread, where i suggested the "fetch me" quests should check how much money you have before assigning you to them - since money is independent of levels. (a high level can have low money and a low level can have a lot of money)

I like the fast messenger 'party' idea... That is pretty good. I guess it would be the big bad missions they would fetch you for.
Messenger arrives: "Count **** wants me to inform you that you have 2 days to get to the city of ****, he has a mission that requires you attention." And then some sort of hint at what it is. "Bring plenty of followers" would indicate you need to fight a strong enemy party or similar. "Be prepared to travel light" would indicate some sort of speedy mission, like the nobleman capture. ect ect.

Anyways about quests here are a few other things what I think could be interesting to.. er... think about....

1) Ability to 'delete' quests, or 'politely' decline a quest when the count tells you what it is. (Eg.
Count":I need you to train me soldiers -
You":Ok, but my troops have been known to have a suicide rate of 500%." - Count": Nevermind... Maybe I will try to find some else.

Likewise you should be able to 'give up' on quests, delete them from the quest book, or go back to count and tell him that the task is impossible. Maybe there could be a negative effect on your status, (eg. minus a bit of status, not a lot, just a bit ::grin:)

OR quests could have a 'decay' timer, which would mean something like in X days the quest would expire and the count would assume you failed. For harder (capture / kill) quests it would be a LOT longer since you may take a month just to find the guys you need to kill

2) Quests such as 'deliver message' should have a bit more meaning in it. For example, you could have the other faction try and intercept you on the way. Few 'patrols' could be dispatched across your path with the sole purpose of stopping you. It would take a LOT of turning, twisting and going backwards to avoid them (or you can kill them)

3) Like in two, the enemy faction could get their OWN hunters / mercenaries and give THEM a quest to kill / capture YOU. Quests can also be given to NPC's. For example:

-Count X gives a quest to capture khergit khan (playing Mag7 mod so not sure if this is an actual game quest or mod, but doesnt matter for anexample)
-You, noble A, noble B and noble C recieve the quest.
-You all set out to try and track the guy and kill him.
-noble A finds him first, but get beaten and is forced to retreat.
-A few days later, YOU find him, and succesfully capture him.
-At this point noble A comes back, and demands that you give up your prisoner (since noble A wants the glory for himself)
-You try and run, because noble A is carrying an anti-matter particle beam cannon (just an example for your runnig), at that point you meet with noble B and initiate a conversation with him.
-Noble B has honor, and says he would help you fight noble A.
-Together you kill noble A, and noble B says he would help escort you to -the king. At this point noble C arrives.
-Noble C, seeing he is the last and the least worthy, decides to commit hara-kiri.
-You bring the prisoner, and get the most reward, noble B gets an appreciation from the king for the help.

This is just an example of a senario that COULD happen, should you run into all 3 others, but you could take any role, as well as noble A's role (kill your allies and pretend the prisoner is yours). Idea is for multiple 'heros' to recieve the same quest. Not every quest should be made like this however, only a few quests which you can 'choose' to join (Count says: fellow knights, I need all of your help tonight.. OR This mission can only be trusted to you and only you)

Just a few things I thought of regarding quests, see what happens in teh future anyway ::smile:
