Suggestions about how gore should be improved, if it should.

Have a suggestion considering this topic? Have an idea of how gore should be made? want to improve my hurried suggestions? Feel free to reply. If you are just thinking that the gore should be made better but have no idea how, don't bother.

Dismemberment isn't necessary. All I want is blood that doesn't look like it came from a spray bottle and stays on the ground. The mere idea of a winter terrain covered with bodies and blood gives me a hard on.

...Maybe not. How about something like in Half-Life(the first one)? When you shot someone, a splash of blood just appeared on the wall/floor behind him. This seems to be a pretty easy and working solution to me.

When you swing someone with your sword/axe/whatever, a splash of blood just appears on the grond below him. The size of the splash would rely on how much damage you did. Maybe he could bleed for a few seconds if you hurt him bad, leaving a stain of blood behind him when he moves.

I'm running a little short of the ideas of how blood flying in the air should be made. Someone give me a hand here?

Also, some more death animations would be cool. Death animations that depend on where the killing blow hit. For example, if someone gets a killing blow in the gut, he would hold his stomach for a second, and then fall on his knees -> face.

Nothing fancy on the death animations though. Short dramas a'la Rainbow Six: rogue spear are somewhat silly.

Discuss.

Note: Yes, I'm aware that there has been a thread about this. It seems to be forgotten, and it was pretty retarded one as I recall, so I decided to make a new one.

This sheet contains commonly suggested features to M&B, and most of the relevant threads that discuss the suggestion.
The threads are (sort of) ranked in order of relevance, and quality of the discussions. Any additions/suggestions to this form are welcome.
First of all, there's the sticky at the top of the page right here.
Gore: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
And finally: read this before posting any suggestions

There are other threads about this, you dolt :P

Sorry Nair :P -LL

No ****, Shaft?

I know there are other threads about this. Ones with great, constructive discussion, like

"more blood yeah!"
"severance BOD rules!"
"then this would become a rated X game"
"Read the stickies"

I'm just glad that you read the NOTE: part. I don't like bringing up long forgotten threads with inane discussion.

maybe the spray should be replaced by 'drops' that fly out of the wound than fall down. and not when there shouldn't be blood, like when platemail is hit by something that wouldn't get through, and when there is no damage done. and maybe a stream(visible or not) when dying and/or for a sort time after, resulting in pools.

Heh, I saw the note, I just wanted to take a little jab at ya.

Yeah, I figured that out.

You should have done it without throwing in that huge clunky suggestion box, though

edit: Back to the topic. Severance had pretty good looking blood. Though there are lot more enemies fighting at once in M&B so something a lot more simple would do the job good enough.

I'd just prefer the blood to be individual apricot/grape sized particles that come out of a wound and make a small splatter on the floor. And for there to be somesort of blood decal on the character himself.

It seems to me that a decently good blood spray by 'shooting' a myriad of projectiles of blood using the current weapon projectile coding. I would think it would be relatively easy to implement this. Arrows and javalins already stick into your avatar or shield, why couldn't little rock sized blots of blood do the same thing? Since they would be small and round, they would just look like a dot of blood. Or perhaps, if desired, you could have a more morbid set of larger projectiles in the shape of random organs...
