As I have expressed my opinion in another thread, I've been thinking about farmers and their upgrades. I would like to hereby suggest Irregular Troops to be added to L'Aigle. I believe the addition of localized irregulars would prove to benefit the modification -  It'd be a bit more realistic than having every single villager eventually turn into a german merc.

Farmer --> Irregular Local Troop --> Recruit/Rekrut/Recrue/etc --> The rest of the Upgrades remain unchanged.

Or like you said, Famer --> Irregular Local--> Irregular troop tree (bandits, bowmen, pikemen, mercenaries)
                                                          |
                                                          --> Regular troop tree for the country

So you can choose rather you'd want regulars or not.

Odd, I thought bowyers were put out of business by gunsmiths by this time. The argument between bows and gunpowder disappeared in Hungary by the 17th Century. The last recorded quarrel about which is superior was in 1552.
 
Well, I mostly bought it up as interesting trivia. Although I don't know if these sportsmen would be used in a militia, I understand that the military mindset about soldiers was that any weapon is better than no weapon, even if it's terribly outdated. Hence why matchlocks were used during the French Revolution.

Maybe there can be fox hunting for the stuffy British lords? Might be neat to have an alternate feast which is actually a fox hunt.
 
I remembered that Empire TW had bowmen but I didn't think by myself that that game was 18th century, not 19th century. And TW series isn't really a scource for historical accuracy.

I thought the bowmen in Empire TW were only native auxiliaries. There are no bowmen in any other of the nations except the Native Indians.

Russians had horse archers, and there were some more but I don't remember. I just looked it up and there are a lot of horse archers in that game, but only about 4 foot archers units.
 
Are the musket sounds going to be tweaked? They sound kind soft especially when you are a few yards away.
 
I think Spanish Guirillas should be added in as a mercenary you can recruit in Taverns, with good accuracy but bad melee stats.
