i like this idea but would also like to be able to import images for single player games
for multiplayer a standard selection of colours, backgrounds and images would suffice

so in any heraldic editor you would have to state if u want to add it to the single player game or if it was intended for use in multiplayer

your answer would allow or block custom made images
but in both cases a libary of backgrounds colours and images would be available should one not wish to  import an image

i play DOW (the first one) and people can make badges and banners for their army and then import these when painting their army

a great big YES! YES! YES! I WANT THIS NOW! from me

it could be done in a similar way to how Counter Strike handles the custom spray tags.
you create your own then they are transferred to the server and automatically downloaded to each player.
this can be disabled on the client side so you don't have to see custom sprays if you don't want to.

fully customisable means that clans members can have a group and personal identity with the top left and bottom right showing the clan's armourial devices with the top right and bottom left showing the player's.

I love this Editor.
Do you think about the Option let Players import images from themself?
That, unfortunately, carries the risk that someone with a gigantic intellect will find it funny to put dicks, tits and arse on his creations.

So, for singleplayer it could be allowed, but for multiplayer it should be only things made with the in-game editors.

the heraldry could do with a huge overhall

the banners that are used by the existing lords and factions should be reserved for them and the player should not be able to select them (although they should be editable to allow complete customisation)

then there should be a selection of editable banners for the player to choose from and modify.
the shields and surcoat also need to be editable although this could be done automatically but the surcoats would need to have the device displayed on the chest rather than the stomach

Of course. People should have their own personal banners. I don't see why not.

And I don't know why people clicked 'No'. Maybe trolling?

I agree with this idea 100%. My laptop's got a wonderful graphic card, so this would be child's play for my laptop
