Caveman
Sergeant at Arms

Add puffs of dust when an arrow hits dirt. For the less experienced archer, finding range is very tough. Trial and error works if you have time and the enemy stays still, but can still take a lot of arrows since you don't know if youre aiming too high or too low as its very easy to lose track of an arrow against anything but the sky. New people, who haven't played MaB much if at all, will be easily put off by this, especially if there are lots of veteran players scoring hits on them from huge ranges.
A small but visible puff of dust (or grass, or wood chips, maybe even sparks from stone) when the arrow hits an object would make it a little easier to adjust your aim at longer ranges. Doesn't need to be on every shot; a 1 in 3 chance would probably be enough. This wouldn't be so much help to a more experienced player who will already have some instincts about ranges and aim, but it will ease the learning curve for newer players.
