[Suggestion] Post-Death Damage Report

It would be nice to know how effective you are being, especially as an archer when you tend to hit once or twice and leave it to your team to finish them off once they get a bead on you (I do at least). Some kind of report in the log listing damage done and to whom on a particular spawn would be great, since unless you actually kill a guy, you have no way of knowing if you did 4 or 40 damage.

Better for Battle than for DM, since people you wounded might be alive when you respawn, but it could work just the same.
 
I'm not suggesting any changes to the scoreboard (though a column for enemy horse kills and one for assists would be fantastic), just a few lines in each players log showing damage dealt and recieved in the round/spawn.

You mean a total tally or the sort of in-action reports given in SP?  Those would also be a nice feature.  (Provided we could toggle it on/off)
 
e.g. in battle mode. you play a round. You kill two enemies and wound one other before dying to a fourth. When you die, a few lines of text appear in your log showing something along the lines of (Just guessing at some figures)

Damage Dealt
Killed - PlayerA - Siege Crossbow - 80 in 2 hits
Killed - PlayerB - Siege Crossbow - 22 in 1 hit
Wounded - PlayerC - Sword - 27 in 2 hits
Killed 4 enemy horses.

Damage Recieved
Attacker - PlayerC - 24 in 1 hit
Killer - PlayerD - Bastard Sword - 59 in 2 hits

Just showing who you dealt damage to and with what, and who dealt damage to you and with what. If you survive the round, it shows at the end of the round. It's a very nice little feature I've seen in various source games, and has no real use beyond giving a player an idea of their performance beyond what is shown on the scoreboard.
 
I like it. :grin:  However, when I'm doing well I still prefer it to be broadcast to everyone, and when I'm not getting kills I'd like some tangible numbers to make me feel better about myself :lol:.
 
I would also like more detail, but so little time in-between rounds I don't know how effectively this could be implemented.
 
Well if you die in Battle, it pops up then so you have plenty of time to read it while you're dead. If you survive the round, it'll be in your log so you can easily check it when you next die. If you survive a long period you're probably doing pretty well already, so you won't be so interested.
In DM and any other mode where you spawn quickly, you probably only open your log and take a look if you want to know about a specific fight.

That's another thing I'd like to see changed.
 
Yeah it could also work like css in the sense of either bringing up the console to view damage given/recieved or the server plug-in that some css servers use which automatically brings up a small box with the same details in a nicer way.  Also a good way to reward archers or other people who damage enemies but dont necesarily kill would also be the system from tf2 whereby your score isn't just kills but a combination of kills/assists/captures.  Assists only count as half (I think), this would reward team players as much as people who just get the killing blow.

but wont it get a problem if its too detailed how about:
kills:## deaths: ## damage dealt: ## damage recieved: ##
that seems like enough information too me

What we get now (the scoreboard) is "enough" information, but a clear breakdown of your performance in a round is more interesting to look at. An option to decide how detailed you want the report is another possiblity, but probably not necessary since it's easy to ignore if you don't want it.

As I have said, something similar to the versions of this seen on many CSS servers is what I'm suggesting. MaB's interface doesnt seem like it would fit something like the menu you sometimes see.
If you wan't to suggest changes to the scoreboard, I'm sure there are other threads for that.
 
This is a good idea.  However i would prefer the scoreboard modification. Assists and stuff. Even better would be both these things implemented :grin:
 
The game would benefit greatly from an "assist" additon to scoreboard. That way people would feel team play is rewarded more. Also I'm all for more stats; damage done,horse kills etc. even trivial ones like distance traveled,best shot etc.
