[SUGGESTION] New multiplayer game mode - For King and Country

Great idea!

More over, be able to plan battles in any MP modes may be really great (during respawn time or between each round).

There are ways around that, which mostly involve towers and walls. Or putting the king on a horse. Perhaps you could have an option for how many times the king needs to be killed to end the game.

I think it is a great idea ! But im wondering about the money ! How will we equip the bots ? What kinda of bots will be there ? and so on so on
Bots gonna be just like in the Native (or Warband Native SP) , already fully-equipped like in SP. But with some types of soldiers you can change their default equip out of 2 possible. Like "Huscarl w/axe'n'shield" and "Huscarl w/2haxe" or "Rhodock Sergeant w/spear'n'shield" and "Rhodock Sergeant w/glaive" and so on.

Maybe you could choose what kind of troops you wanted to have.  Maybe for balance a cav squad would be smaller than an infantry squad.
I think cavalry will cost much more than infantry. Actually I didn't thought much about cav balance yet, I want to wait until more info will be revealed (maybe traps, stakes and pike-bracing will be added and such) . But yeah, cutting cav.Captain slots to 8-10 can cure any unbalance w/heavycav.

Yes, maps must be long, with good amount of landmarks on them. Every camp must be surrounded with stake-walls to prevent horse-rushes.
And of course King will join the battle only on his mighty stallion.

Your post is close to an mmo game I was designing in my head.
The next day I discovered M&B.

I was just about to post a question about bots in mp warband, hoping we could see some bigger battles with players acting as squad commanders.
1 player contols archers, 1 inf, 1 calv.... Etc..
Your idea of "protect the king" is pretty cool as well.
I guess we can hope the devs come up with some unique mp experiences that NO other game offers.

Excellent idea Sir Knight, but pray-tell, how shall the king watch over the battlefield and command, without something besides a spectate ability, or binoculars? You say it would be a rather long battlefield, and that would be difficult to survey and command over with just the zoom... unless...

A keep should be implemented, at each end of the battlefield. The King can heal while inside his keep,(or not) and it provides him protection from the outside, but only 10 of his men(not including himself) can be inside the keep at a time, this would generally include both escorts, and 8 elite infantry such as huscarls or sergeants.

My idea for the keep's design is this, for each faction(or map playable with this mode) a different keep is placed on the battlefield.
For the Rhodoks, the giant round keep of Grunwalder Castle, for the Khergits, give them 4 short(about 15 feet) walls after their fashion(all sandy or whatever)with battlements, all in a square.

For the Nords, a tall wooden(relatively thin) watch-tower like keep, with stairs going up it to Ragnar(lol), with only the bottom floor of dirt, and one floor after the stairs, and finally the roof upon which the king stands, unless beleaguered by archers, at which time he would go the the floor under.

For the Swadians: A plain stone keep, like the model you have within the walls of the ruined fort map, only not hollow, and not surrounded by those walls.
And last but not least, the Vaegirs: octagonal walls with a stone foundation, and wood battlements on which the marksmen could go.

Of course you could just have two plain stone keeps regardless of faction or map.

I Love this idea!!!!!!
Or you could just have the camp like this...
Stakes (sticking at an angle about a horses chest high) surrounds the whole camp.
The camp would be on a hill (the camp hills would be higher then any other hill on the map) and this would be where the king could see the battle.
You might want to give the king a multi-strength zoom, like have he holds down the botton for normal, double clicks it then hold for longer.

Sounds pretty good, but I thought that King can't spectate the map (only use mini-map) , that's what scouts are for. Scout spots the enemy and Captains sending a word to the King. It's a little bit complicated, but that was the idea.
Or maybe you're right, let's say it's working like I said, but in the camp/keep King can use a tactical map which works either like in SP (giving away enemy positions) or gives the ability to fly around the map as a spectator. With "press Esc to leave map overlook" ability of course.

this is a great idea that plays on Mount+Blade's strengths and what it is... It would be epic for clan battles, with the clan leader being King and whatnot .
