[SUGGESTION] Make an option for Helm visibility

Well you could also wear the same helmet all the time and people would recognize you.

Also if it is a full face helmet you can deceive your opponents about who you are.

No need for this IMO.

No need for this.
I can generally tell who people are throught banners and fighting styles.

It would make it weird IMO.

I thought this was about helmets limiting visibility.

Now that would be great. If you choose to wear a great helm, your field of vision should be greatly diminished. If you go with a simple skull cap, just a bit of the helm's rim could be visible on the top of the screen, or no reduction at all.

There are reasons in reality to go without a helm. In game, only the slight weight of the helmet is a drawback, but they are all magically see-through.
Even a great helm would not diminish sight all that much.

I agree that this should be a client-side option.

And for people who are saying this is unnecessary, everybody already knows that. It's called a preference, which is why so many are advocating this as a client-side option.

why are you people so sensitive, I actually do play WoW myself, im a troll hunter  .  Its the only game ive seen this feature in, but this is a whole different style of game.

A bindable key to toggle helms on and off. Not likely, but would be a neat compromise.

bare in mind, in order for beneficial debate, a mutual respect is necessary, and the ideas, and grounds for the ideas should be discussed. I understand your concern that removing helmets could be seen as "Cartoonie" if its a forced option, but when you add in comments like "oh come on.... get real!" you come off as condescending.

Rule of thumb: reread your message before you post and ask yourself "are people going to dismiss me because I sound like a **** if I write this?" and the answer is "maybe" or "yes!" you might want to rephrase your post.

Keep in mind, ultimately everyone here is working towards the same goal: to produce an enjoyable, high quality game that we can be proud of our efforts and participation in.

I do not agree with it, it ruins the game completely and makes it unfair in some kinda way.

Don't see how this would ruin anything at all even. I bet half of the people in this thread posting have barely any kills that have been overhands or blows to the head. Head armor also doesn't work all that well anyway and usually leads to death if struck.

It happens a lot. You get a massive damage multiplier if you hit the head, and it's led to a sizable proportion of one-hit kills.

i think if you want to have your face be seen, you will have to sacrifice the protection afforded by helmets.

most of the helmets do however have an opening at the face so it shouldn't be a problem to recognize someone. it is also my experience that there are only 1 or 2 people at most wearing great helms simply because of its price and the fact that those who can afford it are consistently victorious.

If you hadn't noticed, Rhade is consistently victorious.

Why would he being victorious make it any less of a bad idea? It would obviously make people think that he was vulnerable to a head attack, and so he would have an unfair advantage, even if it was unintentional. If, God forbid, this idea finds favour with the devs, it should definitely be a server option ONLY, and not something players could switch on and off during any game. Still, this shouldn't be a problem because I don't think it is in the least bit necessary. If he is as superb a player as you say, going without a helmet shouldn't be too big a sacrifice.

By the way, I do often go for overhead strikes against unhelmeted foes, and although it is hard to hit a moving target in this way it is effective when you hit them.

Hm well, some helmets let you see the face of your opponent. I do like, however recognizing people because of their face, and the "Oh no!" feeling I get when I see some people. However, I think that to recognize is the purpose of banners. Yes, some people don't use shields... but it's good enough for most cases IMHO.

Edit: Plus, people showing their faces makes scary players like Rhade easier to kill with a lucky throat slit.

you can simply direct your side swings and stabs at their head,  not only overheads can deal head damage-    even the shoddiest swords in the game can get 1-hit-kills if you headshot an unhelmeted guy,    this is probably the reason lots of people who fork out the best armour get taken down in one shot sometimes,  its coz they wont bother buying a decent helm (or a helm at all)

I presumed it was possible, but I find I usually miss the head with a side swing or a thrust (especially in third person).
