As the title says. I don't really care which, but the difference in swing speeds is currently ridiculous. You can just spam constantly even with the slow 2handers like the Voulgue and a guy with a 1hander can't return blows.

I'm all for making people less reliant on "Sword + Board" but nothing should be impossible to beat.

The big benefit of the 1-handed weapon isn't really the speed factor but the fact that you can use a shield with it.

Yeah, but currently they are so slow that you can't actually return blows in between your enemies strikes.

what happend was to stop thw spam, im guessing instead of only changed the 2handed animations they changed both 2handed and 1handed...which really doesnt do anything

They need to change only 1.

They just need to make it faster to go from a successful block to an attack for all weapons, I think. The problem is that at the moment you have successfully blocked an attack, both you and your attacker are on equal footing to make another attack. This means that if the attacker has the faster weapon, you aren't going to be able to beat him with an attack. Blocking an attack should allow you to respond to that attack with an attack of your own.

I prefer two handed but fair well with one handed and a shield. I think it's easier to kill someone with two handed weapon when i have a shield

I'm not at my home computer so I can't look at my actual files, but if I recall correctly most infantrymen have much higher proficiency in two-handed weapons than one-handed, and I just always figured that this was the reason why two-handers seem so fast.

I never thought about that, but it would pretty well explain it. The proficiencies should be equal, in my opinion.

The difference is huge though, even when playing archer or xbowman using a 2hander is faster.

1 handed weapons definitely feel far too slow...

Ran around tonight for a bit only using a 1-handed sword. Two-handed weapons were consistently faster, which seems a bit odd. Whilst, this appeared to be the case before the slower combat speed seems to have only made this speed difference more noticeable.

Having played with Club with Spike as well, I think it's not just 1H weapons but short weapons in general. Club with Spike is so horribly slow because it has a freeze time between pre-swing and swing.

2H weapons and polearms seem more or less fine but 1H and CwSpike should be looked into.

Both, make 2H slightly slower, and 1H slightly faster.

Also, the only advantage of a shield, is versus archers at the moment. You could say it's useful versus cav, but a 2H is far more useful.

Furthermore, you can just carry a shield with a 2H weapon and swap it out whenever needed, then change back to your weapon at close range. Making 2H weapons basically just as effective against archers as a 1H with shield at the moment.

Possibly making weapon to shield swap slower would help with this. (I.e it takes the same amount of time if you change from just a 2H to a 1H or 2H to another 2H or melee to bow, but longer to change from Anything without a shield to anything WITH a shield.)

Just some thoughts.

Two-handed axes and mauls should definitely be slower than one-handed swords. I expect they're only faster by accident.
