[Suggestion] Louder Horses

I think they really should be made louder, or to be more exact, louder at distance. I cannot count how many times ive been "sneaked up" upon from behind and got ran over by a thundering warhorse.
I realize increasing the volume would make everything chaotic with just hooves and horsebreaths all over the battle field.

I was thinking, maybe increase just the distance from where you can hear horses, cause right now there is almost no sound then i hear the cavalry thunder suddenly from lets say 10 meters away.

I agree completely. First, the 3d sound positioning needs fixed, though. That's half of the problem for this. It would be obvious that the galloping was getting closer and closer if the sound positioning was correct.

I was playing last night on Village I had gone in through the back gate, I heard a cavalryman running around outide. I then heard him moving towards the gate I just came though so I got into position. A few seconds later he came though the gate and I killed his horse.

The point being, on the whole it works pretty well for me. However I do have music down and sounds up also pretty good speakers.

but thats not maintain..

sometimes you hear horses through the whole battlefield.. but often, infight.. the only thing you hear is the lance that cracks between your ribs..

Absolutely agree with this, too many times I was killed from behind just because I didn't heard that horse was coming from there.
Also it could be really awesome if armored horses sounded heavier than unarmored ones (heavy thumps like in Cries of War Soundpack) .

I can hear things around me fine. You just need to get a better headset

Get a better headset, get a better speaker system, turn the music off, turn your speakers louder. Its all the same and its not an actual solution to the problem. Try to compare volume of the running horse with sounds of arrow hit, xbow bolt release, clanking swords, horse neighing, whatever. It way too silent.

I agree, dont know how many times ive turned around to make sure no horses are behind me, then start to run fora couple meters then turn around and wham there is a horse 10 feet away i couldnt hear. horses are loud armour is loud. unless their ninja horses they need to make some noise

Agree'd countless times i've heard a horse and not had enough time to finish of a currrent foe before getting couched in the back, due to timing and the sound of "distant" hooves

I definitely agree.  It seems you only hear like three cycles of hoofbeats before you get hit from behind.  You really only have time to spin around and hopefully block with your shield.  If cav hits you from behind you get run over every time.  I think the game would be cool if you could hear those horses pound the earth.  It would make the cavalry charges more frightening at the very least.

A horse galloping on grass is significantly more quite than one that's running on hard padded soil, or cobblestones.

Please add louder horses and/or louder footsteps for 'heavier' guys.  (The more armor you have on the louder you are?).

well said!

Hopping in the +1 bandwagon, as mentioned in another topic, make those sneaky mother****ers a little louder, it'll provide hours of fun and entertainment for the whole family in a brand new "spot dem horses" game.

I completely agree that the 3D sound system is awful.  I know it's redundant since it's been stated over and over already in this thread, but it's gotta be emphasized.  It's impossible to tell which direction a sound is coming from and how far away the source is.  I'd hazard a guess that this is by far the leading cause of multiplayer deaths that should've been easily avoidable.
