Shooting, Blocking, and to some extent: swinging.

These are three actions that need to have a penalty when you jump. Right now its a bit ridiculous that an archer can make a perfect shot hopping up in the air. In reality, an archer would struggle to keep his arrow on string if he was hoping around.

If you block an attack while hoping, you should get knocked down, similar to being hit with a blunt weapon. You have no way of bracing yourself for the blow so it only makes sense that you would be knocked off your feet. Additionally, this will stop some of the stupid bunny hopping that is going on.

And to some extent, swinging should be penalized by jumping, but not all types of swings. You get your power from a forward jab from your support in your feet. Without bracing yourself to deliver a blow, you would do insignificant damage. The overhead attack though, would actually benefit from being delivered as you are falling. Gravity will give you some extra force as you would land your attack.

So in conclusion, archers should be unable to shoot while jumping. Blockers should be knocked down on the floor if hit, and at the very least, the forward jab should do reduced damage.

Thoughts?

I think you shouldn't be able to do anything while you jump. Jumping should be just to get over fences or walls or maybe to jump down some stairs, but it shouldn't be part of a fight. The game should just end/block all actions, when you jump. Your shield should go down and your swings/aimings should stop immediately.

I added an additional option for your idea grom.

Personally, I think thats going a bit far, but at the same time I can see the need for it to happen. I think the penalties I laid out should be enough to dissuade people from using bunny hopping as a strategy.

Jump stabbing is too fun for that.

I say no to jab because I like my flying spear strike.

That's a point... always reminds me of Brad Pitt in "Troy" when i see you flying...

But anyway, i would prefer to have no actions while jumping.

And about the new poll option: I can't vote for that because i already voted the other thing, because it was best fitting for me before you added the new option, Seawied.

For me, it is more difficult for fight when jumping, and this with all types of weapons.

I think that jumping with a horse may also add a penalty. (It is difficult to aim with a weapon on a horse, and more if the horse jump)

this.
jumping should be limited to climbing when on foot. when mounted a lil jumping should be tolerated but no flying horsemen please.

I think aiming penalties for archers shooting and knockdown for people blocking in midair are what's needed.

What's the problem with people blocking and jumping? It gives them no advantage whatsoever, so why bother removing it? I can see why archers shouldn't be allowed to shoot mid-air, but jumping gives absolutely no advantage in melee fights. If anything, it gives a disadvantage, because your legs are open to enemy strikes.

It is, try it in native and watch the speed bonus plummet into negative numbers. For melee, the best use is to actually jump over the opponent and hit them in the back before they can turn. Works against the AI, against a human player you're more likely to hit the ground in two halves.

Its to help keep people pinned down.  Also, lots of people jump while blocking to avoid archers shooting at their feet

Eh, I'm pretty neutral about this. Generally, jumping opens you up in melee and I've stabbed most of the people that jumped at me.

However, I think the overhead strike should at least be allowed with a jump. I have the feeling that there will be some people who get so good with the manual block that it will take ages to land a hit in melee on them, so there there might need to be as many attack methods as possible. The attack method I'm referring to is jumping at the opponent with an overhead strike. You time it so that as the strike comes down it actually hits the opponent in the back of the head and gets around their block (is that what you meant Archonsod? Or something totally different?). If you want a good example ask TRU_SOULJA to duel. He loves that technique, and while he gets killed doing it fairly often, he also gets his share of kills with it.

Anyway, as for the blocking, I don't really care. I can live with or without jumping blocking.

As for shooting while jumping: I think it should be stopped.
