[Suggestion] Get rid of banners, especially the clan banners

Well I haven't been able to play for more than a month and imagine my surprise when I look at a battlefield and see 20+ banners above people's heads.  Now no offense but who's behind this bright idea?

I don't know if it's me but it's much harder to tell foe from friend now. There were some visibility issues with default ones too, but when you got used to it you could tell who's a friend instinctively without focusing on the banner. Furthermore, there are some custom clan banners that are simply ridiculous. I mean purple guys? Do you really need a purple banner? Well why don't you get one with camouflage or even better a transparent one?

I was a zealous supporter of the mirror ff system before but seeing this I've changed my mind. Now I want regular ff rules so that I can shoot that "cool clan buddies for ever" guy in the ass with my xbow.

p.s.: This thread will destroy itself if there's a way to turn it off on client side.

The banners you have installed, will be shown.
So if you create a nice banner for every able banner selection, you will have no problems.

Unless you specifically download the custom banner pack, all you have are default banners.

I haven't installed any banner packs. But I can see 99% percent of the banners (I have seen only 1-2 full grey ones) and also I see the same banner on people that are in the same clan.

I love that us crazy clanners can identify each other on the battlefield.  Its a lot of fun.  As long as the armors are unique enough knowing who is enemy and friend isn't that hard.  A couple of the leather armors are too similar though.

Let me adress your original posts and thus explain what my reply concerns:

Again, these "purple banners" are not clan banners they are default banners. So blaming the clans for them is silly.

The only custom banners are found in the "Custom Banner Download Pack", which is not included or added to the game unless you yourself do so.

It annoys me when you blame an entire part of the community for something they have had absolutely nothing to do with.

Ok the clans are in the clear. This doesn't change the fact that allowing people choose different banners hinders gameplay. Also who needs distinctive banners other than clans?

He is refering to the banners one selects on the profile page. Which are the default ones.

However, one can also download the custom banner pack by Timothy the Knight which adds various clan and personal banners(by replacing the default banners with custome ones). Though only people with the custom banner packs will be able to see the custom banners, everyone without it sees only the default banners.

I was wrong as I thought some of them were custom banners. Now I'm referring to all of them.

Doesn't change the fact that they look ridiculous in a crowded battlefield. Also some of them have 0 visibility in certain situations, like purple in dark places. By the way anyone know why I see some gray ones?

Some banners are strange and do not really belong in a medieval scene, but I have otherwise no problem with custom banners and I'm an archer myself.
Although I would not be angry if they dropped/altered the damages-self-FF system

Use Faction Banner option is not working thus you see gray/black banners.

The only problem is that current banners (as those in singleplayer) are mostly garbage. 90% of them are total and utter garbage - I don't even know how they got into the game. Color and symbol combinations are horrible to look upon, it defies any artistic criteria. Several banners are, thank god, ok.

The default ones are hard to see sometimes when they blend in with the background. Have killed myself a few times by shooting a guy in leather who I thought was an enemy, but turned out to be a friendly with a default banner.

My only beef with custom clan banners is that they often replace the coolest existing heraldries.  Imagine my chagrin today when I discovered that my new banner actually looked like a medusa to everyone with the custom pack!

Perhaps you should use a certain banner of a certain clan which you are a certain part of...

Real-life heraldry is often ugly as sin. I like the ugly banners, mine is two white ducks on a blue field
