[Suggestion] "Fix" bastard swords

What do duels have to do with anything?  Every other post here says something like:

"Bastard sword is not OP.  Bastard sword is best dueling weapon."

How is that even relevant?

I wouldn't mind seeing normal & heavy bastard sword speed lowered to 95, then compensate and getting rid of the penalty in speed for 1h mode.

I've seen a few new players trying to use the thing in 1h mode and repeatedly being out swung by enemies all the time, completely clueless as to why it's happening. Actually, I wouldn't really mind all of the 1h/2h weapons losing their speed penalties in 1h mode as long as the damage penalties remain. With this change, bastard swords would be slower in 1h mode than a normal sword by 4 speed, but have a bit of extra range for compensation, and still retain the 1h penalty for damage amount.

Going a bit off topic with that, but a lowering of the effectiveness in one way should be somewhat compensated for in another imo.

agreed there actually,    bastard swords are useless with shields except for aproaching archers.

You just need to learn how to fight them.

me?
have you tried using a bastard sword with a shield?  useless.  anyone with functioning limbs can beat a bastard sword+sheild user,  its worse than using the free 1hander with a shield.  kinda defeats the point of a bastard sword, that its only usable when 2handed,  there should be an equal ballence between offence of 2handed mode, and defence of 1handed mode.
(same goes for the morningstar,  its painfully weak 1handed)

+27554 Its very good idea. I dont mind 5% reduction of speed and 25% reduction of damage as alternative.

The combined damage/speed reduction for 1h/2h weapons in 1h mode is excessive.

It should reduce weapon speed OR damage, but not both.

I suggest using a 1h/2h weapon one-handed should reduce speed but not damage (based on my experience).

You absolutely can get a large weapon up to killing momentum 1h, but it takes a bit longer to accelerate.  (It won't look quite the same as using a lighter 1h weapon, either).

In the case of spears, you can thrust just as fast 1h, but lose a lot of point stability and you can't as easily keep it rooted to your structure -- perhaps they should keep speed but lose damage.

(Except for awlpike and long awlpike, which shouldn't be usable 1h at all. Those things are tremendously front-heavy IRL).

Nope, momentum is reduced while swinging with 1h, and the blows are weaker. I tried.
