I would like to ask about "realistic combat". Gameplaywise, balancing is a big issue. But I could never re-catch the nice combat feeling in 1257 edition for the previous mount and blade in any other mod.

Everything felt so dark and real in that mod. And they had a special stats system so it was common for an armored unit to not get hurt by an arrow, or get very low damage whereas the same arrow incapacitates an unarmored unit right away.
Same with close combat. As an armored man(armor costed a lot) you could jump in and slay many armorless low tier units easily(one, at most two blows)...but if you got no armor you could get slain easily.

Things like piercing, cut, slash was very very well organized. Also horses were slain(not chargers) much easily.(with one hit mostly)

All native items in AOCII are removed or replaced, ready packs like that are no use for us.
 
I know that(it is obsolete now), I was just saying that imHo making the combat as realistic as possible should be a priority. It gives the game a lot more than items(which are awesome btw). It shouldnt be a difficult thing anyways, just adjusting stats and prices.
Wearing armor should make it worth it basically.


Aynways, this can be done later when the mod is out, depending on how it is already.

Sorry if  I didn't get your point right, but if you are suggesting  that we should make AOCII combat more realistic (without any knowledge how it works now), then I would prefer for you to wait till beta with those kind of suggestions.

Sure realism is important for us, but is not as simple as adjusting few stats. It requires plenty of testing and tweaking, and probably will take serious time amount until we will be fully happy with it.

About RCM, i don't like it at all, most of changes are at least controversial (IMHO horses slain with one hit is bad joke).
 
From reading the previous posts, I'm getting the jist that most of the stuff inside this mod (items, code) will be original work, correct me if I'm wrong but why is that so? Would that not just slow down release times, etc? Is there not plenty of decent work out there that appears to be valid for this mod?
Or do you want unique assets for a future project? Say, AOC III?

Im sorry but i dont know how they are all called but i really want you to add many of those little mods which doesnt add any troops ore armors in the game but it allows you to do more things like hiring patrols when you are king and so on!
For examle Native Improved and Native Expansion could be built in for all those little mods in them.

Yes, we will have few OSP packs in, but if you looking for some kind mini-mod compilation then it's wrong place  :mrgreen:, sorry dude, but there is already plenty mods of this kind over there.
Of course if you like some single features then we are open for suggestions.
Well iwould lie if i would say that i dont want minimod compilation but my motto is "Big mod must have minimods in it."
But ok let me list the features i will really want in it.(some of them arent even in mods and i just made them by self)

Letting you make patrols,and another groups which will guard your kingdom or scout enemy territories,attack enemy lords and do many usefull things also more thing which will make your kingdom managmen better and easier.
Button in pre-battle menu which will let you to play the battle on multiplayer server with another players on your site.(really cool feature which i would really want but i get that if you wont do it becorse it is probably hard to code and it isnt something which will perfectly "fit" into this mod)
Option which will let you to Import and export your followers(only heroes)
Letting you join on some time armies of the lords(directly not just following them with your army everywhere by clicking on the map but your army joining them directly and after some time in their services leaving them with your all army which didnt died)
Making camps which will be used also as battlefields when attacked by enemies while camping.
And ability to join bandits.

If you liked some of my ideas i will make some anothers.

Release time is not so important for us, we doing the mod for fun only, quality is our priority  :mrgreen:.

Yep, AOCIII is planed, but that is quite distant future.

Don't be offended but there is nothing new, all the ideas are around this forum long time (some we already implemented),  and mostly have OSP code available (you can easily made your ideal compilation yourself) .
We are definitely not going to add stuff just because we can.  There is plenty of mod compilations around, we are simply not going this direction.

Would it be possible to dynamicly change the way you declare war and sue for peace. Like adding causes of war so your vassals dont get mad all the time and specific claims so if you start asking for to much out of peace the other kingdoms begin to dislike you. Kind of like the paradox games ?
 
My dream for AoCII would be a rank formation working just like in The Eagle and the Radiant Cross ;P
 
i just download freelancer its a great mod but its not complete just with some little changes it wil be  great in this mod it will be boss

Just some ideas. i know you arent immediately adding freelancer but i was also wondering about things like diplomacy, religion, populations, new things to build in cities, battle formations, cannons, random events, formations ai. I saw that youre adding kingdom management i really like anything that gives me more control and customization over my kingdom, i hope you can add a lot more depth to managing your own faction. But mostly im wondering if youll change sieges at all. I would really like them to be more than just all my men jammed onto 1 ladder, also is there anyway you could add towns people fleeing or something like that. It would be cool to have some chaos during the sieges and maybe have it where you need to take the keep rather then killing everyone on the walls or something. oh and is there any way to make a cavalry charge more powerful. It would be cool to get it kind of like a total war cavalry charge where it knocks down some people and actually makes it past the first couple guys. Sorry if something up here was already mentioned.
