[Suggestion] A potential fix to insto-feints

instant blocking has pretty much destroyed the game in terms of fun for olo, now you want to make it even harder to land a blow by taking out feints? many people even want to remove blockcrush and all forms of stun.

--->considers uninstalling m/b

go for it! Feinting need to be more limited than currently, but still possible.

I think it's alright. Good feinting still requires some skill and strategy. I wouldn't like to take away a skilled feinters advantage over a less experienced player.

Why not just go back to the way feinting was before with players being forced to unpress left mouse then press right mouse. At least that puts some limits on the speed of the feints (yet still allows it to be useful). That would get rid of the 'spasm-feint' we see at the moment.

No. Bad idea. That actually doesn't limit feint speed at all, since the method of releasing the left mouse button is actually faster. The click-and-drag feint is slower, and isn't only used for feints - it's been present since the original M&B, and now that's been re-added, I don't want it to be removed - it's much more intuitive for old-time players like me, it gives a greater degree of freedom with attacking, and is useful for switching attack directions on horseback. I don't want to have to let go of my attack button if I decide that I need to attack to the left instead of the right on horseback. That's just clunky and unintuitive.

That's saying that feints need to be slowed down in the first place - they don't.

i use feints all the time but i still think they look really silly, 2 handers wobbling about at high speeds is a bit mad, 1 handers look okay though. Although for big 2 handers it does look kinda cool if you dont change the direction of the swing and feint, it looks like the weight of the weapon is in the animation, i suggest that we try testing feints being restricted for 2 handers somewhat, only being able to feint in the direction you started the swing from but leave 1h the same, this may seem unbalanced, but we could also try small 1 handers getting maximum stun every block or somethin.

this is unrelated but block crush should only do a fraction of the damage it does now, atm it doesnt give people time to react and defend, if it just damaged you a bit on a succesful block it would give new players time to know whats happening but also keeps the weapon useful for the attacker, atm block crush is just crazy easy to win with.

If one wants to reduce feinting the weapon speeds should be increased significantly. Try blocking without ever attempting to strike back. Easy as hell.
That being said I do want the weapons to be faster.

Yea this is actually back in since last patch.

Also arguably as the 2h weapons have the most telegraphed attacks they are the ones that need feinting the most. It is already ludicrously easy to block large 2h weapons as it is so easy to see the direction they are coming from.
At the moment feitning is the only interesting thing that happens in combat.

I could care less if it looks a bit silly it adds a lot to the game. Not that I think it looks that bad, in films and stuff people are always swinging their massive swords around all spinning and stuff. Flourishing their blades and whatnot.
