I was playing some good, old fashioned CTF last night, and it was a pretty good game. Our team was winning 18-0. [/sarcasm]

That match gave me an idea for WB. What about instead of 2 kingdoms fighting, we had 3? This way, if one team is dominating, the other 2 teams can form a pseudo-alliance and kick some butt! (Not limited to CTF)

I realize this idea is a tad bit heavy on the development side, but give it some thought. It would add a huge amount of depth to the game. It would distinguish M&B from all of the other games with the exact same objectives (Halo, Counter-Strike, Age of Chivalry, etc).

on a free for all deathmatch  yeah we should have choice of more faction troops (or all?)

but for a three way battle to work there would have to be some cleverly designed objectives and also some reasonably farfetched explanation to why 3 factions are fighting each other at once.

Only on a mod or something. It doesn't really make sense to have more than 3 sides fighting each other, and it'll inevitably result in one team waiting for the other 2 teams to kill each other, and then finish off the weakened party. (which is pretty lame)

This could be fun on some modes.  It would be sort of like the arena from single player.  I'd suggest leaving this out of the game, but make it moddable.  It would be interesting to have a 4-way Team Deathmatch or CTF.  Battle would not work well with this, however.

4-Way Ctf would be the coolest mode ever.  Might I suggest an arena mode where you can have up to 4 teams duking it out?  Just like native used to have except all players.

well cept PVKII

I am in  complete support of having more than 2 teams as an option for all match types and also having the ability to ally them (server option) Example: swadians team up with rhodocks to fight against the vaegirs and nords. I just cant see a downside to this and It would go Amazingly with a king of the hill or one flag CTF type game mode.

That's the idea, though. There'd be more strategy involved than GOGOEVERYBODYGOAAAHH like it is now. Every game. Every round.

I don't see why it couldn't work in battle. Sure, it'd suck to engage another kingdom with less than full strength, but that's your fault for being the first into combat. I think it would force more teamwork.

Some TKHC and nK guys were on the nK battle server and we tried this unofficially.  We put more people on one team and divided it up into two, so it was in essence a 3 way battle.  It was pretty fun, and even better when we did it with 4.  I'd like to see this as an option.

But wouldn't it lead into even more camping?
Two factions could make a temporary alliance to storm the camping team.
This happens on a smaller scale in DM already.  When two infantry are fighting and a cav or archer unit is trying to interrupt them often the infantrymen stop fighting each other by some unspoken agreement.  Both deal with that threat and then resume fighting each other.

Yes and that is absolutely awesome, Berserk.

Anyway, I sort of like the suggestion, bringing to mind a sort of king of the hill mode.

I've been thinking this too. Already in native. Got the idea from the tournament battles, where there are 4 teams against each other.

I hadn't thought of that, but now that you mention it... Those are fun as heck! :]

A king of the hill/domination/headquarters type map to me seems the most viable game type for 3 or more teams. This way you don't have to worry about pseudo alliances, as each faction has to take control of certain points on the map.

For example:

In a domination map, you could have 4 or 5 points that need to be captured. This way there is always fighting at 1 or more points on the map and the team must coordinate with each other what points to attack, and which to defend.
