Subversion is a software version control system, although the mod is in mostly binary format and is not really software this system can be used to keep an up to date version of the mod and keep it in sync with the repository.

The term 'checkout' is used to describe the action of downloading any changes, the first checkout will be large, that's 1.6gb of stuff, the next checkouts will be small and will only include changes I've made.

So that said, if you want to see the development version of the mod you need a subversion client.  An excellent choice is Tortoise SVN.  This is the SVN client this tutorial will cover.

Obtain a copy of Tortoise from http://tortoisesvn.net/downloads and install it.  You may be asked to reboot, so reboot when prompted.

First checkout - change your current folder to x:\....\warband\modules, right click on an empty space there somewhere where folders are, you will have an option to SVN Checkout, click that.
The URL of the repository is http://ad1257svn.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
The output directory is where your warband is installed, folder Modules, or you can just use .

Click OK and off it goes, it will take a long time for the first checkout, it contains all the textures and music.

To keep the development tree in sync with the repository, go to where you 'checked out' the mod, right click the folder where it's installed and right click and do SVN update. This will apply any updates.

That's it...  I'll do some screenshots of the process later maybe.  Oh yes and the upload on my side is not finished yet as of right now, probably 2 more hours.

This is mainly so I can get feedback from kuaik and Sahran on where I messed up the equipment for the new troop trees.  Hopefully kuauik will look at this and make suggestions as to what gear should be where

I suggest trying this, the AI is much better, there are some unfinished things though...  Companion dialogues for one, need help with those.  What else...  The new troop trees may be equipped poorly and may not be well balanced at all... Other than that it's got most of the stuff I talked about.

Plan for 1.0

1) troop trees have been redone
  * equipment lists must be finalized
  * any textures for equipment that doesn't exist have to be done
  * the 'eastern' troop tree needs work, Sahran gave up on it, anyone?
  * when all that is complete it all has to be balanced properly

scripting stuff that's broken or not working well:
  * fix autoresolve, it favours certain combinations where it really should not
  * fix autoloot
  * fix minimap disappearing when you press 'L'
  * base party wages on the true strength of the party
  * fix mercenaries
  * bandits spawning in the walls, starter quest

  scenes
  * Arwa scene, defenders spawn behind the wooden palisade the attackers can't attack them

2) new recruitment system
  * no work done on this yet, some preliminary discussions but postponed until step 1 finished

3) AD 1257 v1.0 is out

A quick and dirty fix for some scene problems.

Includes:
Correct terrain code for Nordic Castle scene and Italy town walls scene.
Various scene fix'es.(Should fix AI geting stuck on the connection between ladders and walls, on some of the siege scenes.)
Proper Andalusian collision for Gatehouse prop(no more invisable walls at some of the gatehouses).
Some AI mesh tweeks for village scenes(Nordic and Mongolian).
Some Scene prop fixes.

Instructions:
1. Download
2. Extract in your 1257 SVN version folder, overwrite
3. Play

This fix is save comptable.

Well it crapped out at 1765mb, geez.  I'll try it again without the music for now.

Alright uploading the textures, music will have to wait other than that it's good to go once the textures are uploaded.

Woah, this is very good news.

Edit: I'm getting problems with the checkout, I'm completely new to this SVN thing.

I get:

插入代码块:
Command: Checkout from http://ad1257svn.googlecode.com/svn/trunk, revision HEAD, Fully recursive, Externals included
Error: Can't create directory 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Mount&Blade
Error: Warband\Modules\ad1257svn\.svn': Access is denied.
Finished!:

its a Admin thingie on Windows 7/ Vista ... C:/program files (x86) is mostly write protected...  use another folder for Warband ,  but maybe it should work ,if u start SVN as Admin without change the warband folder...

Followed the directions but only ended up with a 168MB ad1257svn directory...nowhere close to 1.39gb 1257 directory from pre10.  Any thoughts?  I right-clicked the directory and tried another svn checkout, but it still ended up being the same size.

*EDIT*  Oh looks like the textures directory is still missing.  Maybe that upload didn't finish properly?

Yes, crapped out again with the textures, trying again

I'll try in smaller chunks, just remember if you do the initial checkout all you have to do after is just SVN update.

It's fully playable, with some issues.  Its main purpose is to get everyone willing to contribute up to speed.  But like I said, you can play it and I'd appreciate your thoughts on the changes.

Very important note:  IT MAY NOT BE SAVE COMPATIBLE BETWEEN CHECKOUTS!

imo a good way to help the devs with feedback and suggestions, since u not need to wait a week or longer for a official patch... and ends then in a "disaster" like with Brytenwalda after last 1.31 patch...

Will give it a try then!

EDIT: it download like twice as fast if not more then it use to from M&BRepository .. that's surprisingly good

Othr, one question? In this version, does the recruitment system work like you were talkin' about in the Scandinavian thread?

Edit: Does anyone else get strange letters?

No, that recruitment system is something we still need to talk about and won't be in any time soon.

EDIT:  actually it's partially in, the AI recruits somewhat in that fashion.

kuauik 说:
how big is the mod, cause i have around 900 mg and it says comleted

I'm still uploading the textures, total will be 1.6gb so keep on SVN updating.  I'm uploading 100 items at a time, so it doesn't abort the upload i'm on textures starting with 'k' now.

Actually around 1.2gb without the music.
