A Rutgers University freshman posted a goodbye message on his Facebook page  before jumping to his death after his roommate secretly filmed him during a "sexual encounter" in his dorm room and posted it live on the Internet.

What the **** is wrong with people today? Filming your roommate and airing it on internet? I hope he and his accomplice get to serve the full 5 years in prison

You'd expect students to be wise enough, and respectfull enough to not film their fellow students having sex and you'd certainly expect them to have the decency to NOT put that on the internet

People can be dicks regardless of what group they are associated with.

Someone had serious insecurity problems towards their sexuality.

What do you mean? The guy doesn't have a problem being gay, he has a problem starring in a amateur gay porno.

I would have thought that it wouldn't be much of a problem in this day and age. Most people when they get together to play video games generally yell very gay expletives like "Suck my **** *****!" or "How do you like that mother****er?" mixed in with loud expressive groans and incomprehensible yelling. Any unknowing neighbor or person living within ears reach of those sounds would undoubtedly come to the conclusion that those participants are clearly filming violent gay porn.
This happens all over the world where men come together and play Halo on their XBoxes. How many of us haven't been in a similar situation?

Rather than giving high penalties in these shock cases when something goes wrong and bullied person flips, sentences in overall should be coherent to each other when somebody puts sex video tape to internet without consent. Something which is going to be bigger and bigger problem thanks to cameras getting smaller all the time.

It's like, in 99.9% cases when victim doesn't make suicide they don't get justice, but when that 0.01% makes suicide, they get justice* thanks to public outrage which they don't even need anymore since they are ****ing dead.

*or revenge more like

Anyone has a link to the video? thx.

Running out of wank material?

Also Theo good point The whole invasion of privacy charge, and the fact that it's illegal to film someone having sex unless they gave consent to filming, is a nice start and a strong message that filming annyone who is having sex without their knowledge is a serious crime that can land you in prison for up to 5 years.

Alltough I heared that gay rights groups demand this to be treated as a hate crime wich seems silly to me. Alltough it would be nice to see these 2 land in jail for 10 years. It's a nice incentive to make other people think twice before they act

I know for a fact you took this joke from a comedian, but I forget who.

Most of you are looking at this wrong. Suicide for him most likely seemed like the only option. As an American student studying at an American university, being outed as gay could potentially be disastrous, depending on how religious and homophobic his family were. It could lead to severe discrimination and physical assaults, all because he was gay. So it is just a bit different than the usual secret sex tape.

After reading the article, he live sin the North, so the risk of discrimination isn't as bad, but it's still a major problem in the U.S.

Your sister makes an alarm clock noise?
I used to be able to make the noise of a whistle.
Was awesome, screwing with gym class. Nobody realized I was the one "blowing the whistle," not the coaches/teachers. c:

Now onto worse things.
So on the news, it's about the four kids who committed suicide over being bullied for being gay (or possibly being gay).
Two things pissed me off:
1. They are omitting the fact that was why they were bullied and committed suicide.
2. Dad's opinion? "So what? We picked on kids we thought were gay too. Who cares?"
[edit] The reason the second one pisses me off, more than the general disregard, is the forgetting of who else was bullied. A certain someone in his presence.

@hate crime charges:
The reason they want it as such is because it's obvious this act was done in order to gain negative attention and give people a reason to harass him or beat him up. That's why they want it called a hate crime, because the intent was to cause hate-based crime.
