Hey , love the mod, played it till 4 AM this morning (and had to be at work at 9), but I seem to be struggling to get enough money to pay my troops and still have something left over once in a while to buy an armor upgrade or something. I can't seem to afford to support more than 50 or so mid level troops. I can take up to 45 prisoners but even selling prisoners constantly, and selling off weapons and armor isnt cutting it. I joined Sicily from the start and have a village that gives me 2200 or so a week as well.
Normally I wouldn't complain because in vanilla 50 or so troops is plenty enough (especially with swadian knights) to wipe out almost anything. But in 1257 most of the small castles you run across have at least 350 men, and any city seems to have around 1000. I cant imagine ever being able to afford an army strong enough to take a city. How is the AI supporting that many troops from just village/castle/town incomes?
I went on a recuiting mission last night after I decided to go campaigning in the holy land, I had just won a tournament and had 20k in the bank, so I thought it would last me a while. I recruited 100 men, most of them lower tier, and went to north africa. But the weekly cost was insane, in like 2 weeks I was already broke, and selling the crap that I found, including prisoners just doesnt cut it. I even have level 3 loot on my character but that doesnt seem to matter much.
Is there something i am missing? I tried doing trading as well, and actually found that selling iron from England and France can be a really good income earner (buy for 50 to 100 and sell for 350 to 400) , if you can find a merchant with enough money to buy it (that's the difficult part).
