Strategy with Pendor Culture Units?

Pendor nobles are awesome. Especially when you morph them into Knights of the Black Gauntlet.

But you need Pendor Culture for Pendor Nobles... and with Pendor Nobles you get more Pendor villager recruits.
And IMO, they're terrible. The only unit I can feel like I can use are the Pendor Man-At-Arms, only backed up with other culture's units...

So why are they so weak? Or am I using them wrong?

The bowmen are terrible. I don't bother with their cavalry as I'm not much of a cavalry commander other than using Adventurers/Hero Adventurers.

I usually mix and match, but once you create your own kingdom, I am just overflowing with these recruits.

I only use them for garrison duty. I wouldn't say they are terrible, I would rather say they are solid units at a good price able to help defend a castle.

I use only honor troops and high end mercs for my field army.

The pendor armored bowman carries two quivers of arrows, which really helps with managing fire with massed archers.  However, as you have guessed the rank and file of pendor recruits are weak and cheap.  The flip side with Pendor is that the nobles are amazing.  While you gather them, and it will take some time, you will be dependent on mercs and adventurers for heavy Calvary.  Once you get your honor troops rolling Pendor becomes quite mighty.  For actual strategy try searching for some of the other topics created on the subject.  There are many ways to handle pendor.

IMO it's kinda sucky. Honestly. Pendor is about nobles and nobles only. Regular troops are just expendable.

Don't get my wrong, I don't want a super-kingdom that would melt faces  on every level, but I'm not content with current state of the game in this aspect. I would really like to see honor troops being spread more equally between all of the factions so devs could buff normal soldiers and turn Pendor into "real" faction.

I realise that it was intended, it gives Pendor a different feel etc, maybe it's also supported by the history (I'm not really into fluff tbh), but it's just how I see it.

This post prolly looks censorious, so I'm going to add that I love the mod either way:razz:

Pendor troops are great. But you need to deploy them defensivle and live with higher casualities. On the other hand, they´re cheap and easily retrained and if you keep the proper troops you´ll greatly enjoy yourself with them.

However, Pendor troops aren´t the F3 units but once you got the hang of them, they´re fun to play. Use their strenghts, don´t complain about their weakness. And their main strenght is the huge diversity of their noble units. Armored Bowmen and Foot Knights win the day and Pendor Knights crush whatever resistance is left.

I guess you're right.

However it's kinda counterintuitive to get both noble archers and foot knights if you can get Knights of Ebony Gauntlent and they can just sit in the middle of the map sniping enemies from long distances and destroy in melee anyone who get's too close... But that's different problem.

It totally depends on your army composition. Since I usually get bored after a certain amount of honor units or am too greedy to spend a single blue cabbage on honor troops (because the cheap Armoured Bowmen and Pendor Foot Knights and regular PK´s serve the job as well, especially if supported by a bunch of Adventurers and HAdventurers.

Flooding the battlefield with 500 pimped Ebony Gauntlets if fun - but only for 20 seconds.

Heh, I've never actually gotten to the point where I can field 500 honor troops. I typically gather about 100 of them and start rampaging invading armies with a big block of the elite dudes.

100 Immortals face 300 mettenheim. The mettenheim charge ridiculously quickly across the open field, getting cut down by a thousand spears - then engaging in dueling sword to zweihander combat. Epic stuff.

100 knights of the ebony gauntlet, sitting in double rank raining siege bolts upon the charging veccavian troops - wails of pain and dropped bodies flood the battlefield as riderless royal horses gallop past the line.

100 Silvermist rangers face off against a demonic horde...and get killed brutally.
