Strange missions

I was once asked by the king of Swadians to help him equip his new troop of soldiers. Specifically, he asked me to bring 6 sickles.

What kind of troops could that be? Druids?

Seriously, I understand that this is the work of random generator, but still...

I was asked by the count in tihr to get him 9 coursers. 9 coursers is a lot of money for a low level character, and a pain in the ass when you are travelling from town to town to find them all. After i managed to scrape together these 9 coursers i went back, he told me well done, and then said that he was out of horses and i should get 12 coursers! The cheek!

try being asked to go and find 12 Hunters. Now that took some major money. Got give 75,000 in gold when i completed it though.

That's nothing. The real fun starts when he gets to asking you for chargers.

Currently on a mission to collect FOURTEEN chargers.

Sheeeesh!
Bring me the head of Alfredo Ganzo! More Sargoth wine! Tools from Tulga! And deliver a message to Constable Halreck informing him that standing in the marketplace all day does not count as policing.

I've gone a long time without declaring an aliance. I finally did, just for variety.

Some missions are interesting. Get 6 of a particular type of enemy troop. Capture a nobleman.

Others are just tedious shopping tours. These all seem kind of odd to me.

I'd love to get some more interesting ones. For some reason, Tulga has become a haven for dark hunters. I'd like a mission to wipe them out, like the early River Pirate mission.

Also, I'd like a general "assist our side", so when I see a battle, I'll get some recognition for jumping in to save them. Or a mission to free prisoners. Etc.

The highest ive ever gotten was 19 chargers. i said screw it, enabled cheat mode, pumped up my gold alot, and spent 50 game days trying to find them...when i started i was level 5, when i was done, i had been attacked my so many morons i was level 28. I must admit, with my ctrl t, i could see all enemies, and i purposely ran into them

Ummm... Has anyone noticed this is still about the strange missions? I also had this sickle thing. I assumed it was some kind of weapon or horse.... Don't have the quest anymore though... Wonder where it went.... Anyhow, if anyone could tell what sickles are... Well.

He probably believes the Druids have magic powers, at least he didn't ask for mistletoe and wolfsbane.

I would like different jobs based on what role you play in the army.

I mean, a messanger or Gopher, a low ranking person, would be required to get these items, and deliver these messages. As your rank increases, you get tasks like raising troops and capturing soldiers, along with the occasional Gopher mission. At higher levels you've got to capture those noblemen and kill those raiders over and over again, and finally when you're a knight, you have missions which involve crushing enemy war parties.

Very good idea Ingolifs, may wanna post that in the suggestions forum.
Agree, good idea, but to add to this:

it should also take into account your role in the world. If you join the army as a level 35 player, you shouldn't be treated as a level 3 player. If you have a few dozen men in your army, you can't realistically bring a message to someone (that's more for a solo on a fast horse).

Anyway, sorry, I don't want to hijack the thread.

Why thank you!

Well i do like the idea of having different jobs within an army. It is one of the many things that will hopefully be done eventually to flesh out the game completely.

You know, i think i might post some of these ideas in suggestions, i've got a couple of others thought up.
