Hey berserker you are reading too much into this, it only works with vanilla weapons. For example, if someone were to replace the bastard sword with a heavy wooden practice sword.. It would show up as a heavy wooden practice sword because everyone, mod or not, has the files.

Ok I see.  The flintlock pistol wouldn't actually be that good.  It has the same damage as the standard crossbow and much worse accuracy.  Its only real advantage is that it can use a shield.

Plus characters aren't given firearms proficiency, so the accuracy would be horrendous if they could be used at all.

You do not have to import flintlock weapons, there is a flintlock pistol and cartridges in the itemlist. But as has been said, the accuracy would be really bad.

Word is someone's found a way to get Vanilla weapons into Warband. A certain varlet I know imported illegal quarterstaves the other day.

this bug has already been noted and reported. If I catch anyone exploiting it, it will be a ban on sight. Don't even bother picking up "strange swords" or anything of the like if an opponent drops it: you could be banned.

Re-quoting for more emphasis. Perhaps you should add that there are no buts to why you have it in the first place?

well I hate to sound like a hard ass, but people need to realize this bug is no different than glitching into a wall really. The end result is the same. If you use a glitch maliciously it results in a ban, no if ands or buts about it.

People also need to realize that now admin bans are PERMANENT

That is to say, if you are banned today, even if a new patch or a server is reset tomorrow, you will not be able to join servers.



That said, once a new patch comes out, it is important that we test to see if this hack is fixed. After a person can confirm that it isn't, exploiting the hack will be forbidden again.

I'm not trying to stop people from weeding out bugs like this, I do however, have an obligation, that once a bug is found, players no longer exploit it.

The trend where players here are encouraging each other to exploit this bug in server is an unacceptable attitude for official servers.

*scratches chin* While I disapprove of importing weapons (unless it's agreed-upon, i.e. a whole server designated for using a mod), I'm not sure what it is about the strange sword that makes it OP. I can think of plenty of weapons that are already available in Warband that I'd rather have; I've added them to my game, but I feel a bit "meh" using them because they're not that great.

It was an old bug and the rules were simple in the beta: report bugs and glitches, and don't exploit them after you report them. Strange great sword might not be OP, but imagine getting free plate mail, best equipment, horse, etc.
