Pointy needs to listen to the other voices in his head. This voice doesn't feel very well represented.

I don't know, that crab seems to be moving towards a particular starfish rather aggressively.

Fill the barrel with water and leave it to reduce to salt through evaporaton. Use whatever cloth around to condense the water for drinking.

You then have both a preservative for fishmeat and a water supply.

There's a perfectly tasty crab right there, and he ignores it, opting instead for coconuts? Is Roundy a vegan? Or Jewish? Eat that crab!

He probably has enough crabs of his own to eat.

Next, Pointy wakes up, and asks Roundy to punch him.

Suddenly: Fight Club, Tropical edition.

You really need clear plastic for that to work.

After feeding yourself and Pointy, set some wood to dry and start scouting the area. Look for shelter, threats, and major landmarks.

Do you actually know stuff about wilderness survival? All your suggestions are strangely... sensible.

First priority HAS to be water. No telling how long it was until they were washed ashore, and it only takes 3 days to die of dehydration if conditions are perfect. I'd say this guy has more like a day and a half.

Edit: Also, don't worry about food, the human body can function perfectly fine without feeding itself for a couple days, and it takes weeks to die from hunger. Additionally, eating food dehydrates you faster.

Eh, forest survival mostly. Though most of it is common sense. Also, I've played Stranded 2 before.

Agreed, though getting one's bearings is a priority. Having a landmark is vital, especially if there are two people involved. Finding a cave or a thick batch of trees would also be ideal, as he would then not have to worry about shelter. A grotto would make fishing a cinch as well.

Forest survival is different, water is easy to find, you're shaded all the time, an temperatures are cooler. Being in the desert, or on an island tends to be very hot with no shade, making water priority number 1. None of what you said matters if our hero is passed out from dehydration within hours. If you haven't been out in the hot sun for hours on end, you really don't know how debilitating dehydration is.

Islands aren't notoriously hard to navigate. Especially deserted ones. Deserted islands are small, which is why they're deserted, since they can't support a human population. This means you can walk in any direction, find a coast, and walk until you get back to the wreck. Also, you can probably track your way back if you just talk some precautions, such as marking your trail as you go. Finally, the island doesn't look overgrown, so I doubt that it would be that easy to lose sight of the wreck.

Getting an idea of the lay of the land would still be prudent. Just because an island might not be hard to navigate does not mean that it's a guarantee. There's no indication so far that the island is completely deserted of man or beast, nor that it is small; Pointy could come to harm if Roundy gets lost for a couple of hours.

Bear Grylls finds civilization easily, how hard could it be?

He also drinks his own piss. :???: He just happens to stumble onto civilization while the extreme effects of his piss wear off, since he has drunk some nastier stuff.

Is not the search for water an act of surveying? You just follow the lowest laying areas...

Anyway, dehydration is an issue regardless of humidity. You sweat just as much, though you lose less through respiration. I must also say its much, much easier to get lost in a forest than in a desert.
