Storage area, hold fire command

Hi guys,
forgive me if this has been mentioned before.

I think it would be nice to have a place to store some stuff you don't want to carry arround, but you don't want to sell because you want to use it later on.

I also would like to have a hold fire command (for ranged units). It would be particullary usefull on capture missions.
The units would defend themselves (with melee weapons) if atacked, but would not fire their ranged weapons.

What do you think?

i think it would be really nice if you used the *search* option..

what you probably mean as storage area is a bank... in which case you would only be able to get that stuff in the city you put it... and its much easier to carry it around, IMO

No, i don' mean a bank, i mean a private place to store some things.
If you're low level and you get a nice item from looting that you can't use yet, you may want to put it somewhere because some items are hard to find. And you may want all your cargo space for trading and looting.
Thanks for the reply anyway.

It's a good idea. It's obvious enough, been seen in dozens of games, and I'm pretty sure it's been suggested before, but it really would be a good addition to the game.

There have been many threads about troop orders, check the frequent suggestions sticky for a link to one of them.

@ okin:
Yep i checked the listed suggestions and couldn't find it there, that's why i posted it.

I was thinking of something like Diablo II had, can't remember how it was called, but it was like a kind of a box where you could put some swords and armour (or whatever).

I relly love this game, can't wait for the next update.

A place to store things in my opinion doesn't seem too important at the moment. The best items you can get you'll mostly only get when you can use them. Later on if special rare items could be dropped maybe.

Just increase your Inventory managment level or use a hero to act as your wandering storage unit.

called the TRAVELING CHEST..
i know some stuff about that game cause its only thing i hear from my dear little *sister* (says with hateful voice)

and im still thinking something like a bank.

A "trophy room' would be nice..
Where you have a screen showing a room, with suits of armour on display, and weapons hanging on the wall...
And battle trophies, like banners captured of armies you defeated displayed as well...

The Stash or Chest (whatever we call it) is allready in the game on the battle map. It would probably be easy to implement on the world map, maybe in Zandar.

That's not a stash. That's just your inventory. Although it shouldn't be too hard to implement, since it would basically be like the loot screen, but items aren't lost when leaving it. That loot screen would just have to be attached to some npc.

Yep, i meant it's allready in the game in terms of graphical and mechanical interface. So part of the work is allready done.
I don't know much about programing though.

Bank is a good idea imho. More accurately, a better alternative.

You could both put gold and items on your bank place. And hey, bank means more quests. For example, you may escort bank caravans and they may reward you with extra space. Or a bank somewhere maybe robbed and you catch the burglars. If you dont get them, you cant use bank in that city.

And all that jazz

At some point I think there does need to be someplace to put gold and stuff that you're not currently using. If nothing else, you'd think you could go to any local merchant, pass them a few hundred denar, and say, "Here, could you watch this stuff for me? Oh, and don't sell it, or we'll kill you." Maybe the merchants could rent out storage space -- pay them xxx denar per week, and they'll watch x stacks of stuff for you.

As far as actual banks go, I think they should take some small percentage out of each transaction, or charge a regular fee depending on how much money you have in there. After all, it has to be somehow made worth their while to hold onto your money, and I assume there isn't a big stock market or anything they can invest it in.

Ideally of course, you could eventually buy or earn your own house/land/castle to put stuff and gold in, but that's a suggestion that's already been well-covered.

I'll give you another example.
I'm currently playing mag7 and i'm considering giving all the guys blunt weapons for a "capture a Khan" mission. Now what am i going to do with all the nice balanced and watered steel weapons i gave them previously?
I don't want to sell it and i don't want to carry it arround in my inventory.
