Anyone follow stocks and like talking about them? Have any ideas or trends you think might be good to follow?

A few months ago, someone here mentioned a company they like (arm). I forget who it was. I did not buy that company but I started reading about the industry and bought something else which did really well. Anyway, I thought it might be interesting to start a thread for something like this and see how it goes.

It went through a waxing phase, just briefly.

I think stocks are interesting.  I'm not a huge financial risk taker.. but maybe when I older I'll invest in something solid.  Commodities and stuff people regularly need.  I did well in the stock simulation in my economics class.

personally, i am completely clueless in this regard, my banker keep calling me every month, telling me that... *i go blank for two minutes* and tell her sure

Yeah, it's a fun hobby. I take it kind of seriously now but I don't risk anything I can't afford to lose.

Some don't believe you can beat the market (meaning the performance of the whole stock market). I think that's bull****. But realistically, it's very hard to do.
