I really, really want a horned viking helmet for a costume. And don't tell me they didn't wear horns! I know already. I just want the stereotypical type, but I want it to look real, and look GOOD.

I have looked, but everything I've seen sucks. Preferably not ebay.

I figured this would be the place people would know....

Something like the above...but not plastic.

or like:

The only wearable nonplastic ones I've been able to find are shiny steel...and look stupid. I want something good for a stereotypical viking costume. A few hundred dollars is OK. Cheaper is better, obviously, but I am realistic....

Umm... Vikings didn't wear horns.

When do you need your costume? You ought to make your own.

Didn't I say I knew that already???

I don't need it for a few months, but making it would be to much.

I alreadyg oogled but nothing looks satisfactory. The horned one there is more like a full helm, and steel. I don't want that.

I'm just pulling your chain.

Making it might be hard, but it would be satisfying. And cheaper.

It needn't be real steel or iron... that would be uncomfortable, and heavy. Good costumes aren't either.
You might just want to make it out of aluminum or something like that; something you can beat down easily. It is just a costume, after all.

You should talk to James, he knows more about that sort of thing than I do. I've never bothered with helmets, I've always made leather studded with chunks of tin. I've got a jacket and a hood, and I'm trying to make some breeches, but I messed up and have had to start over three times. >.<

*sigh*. only if i knew how to make armour...

You don't have to have a forge at handy.
You could just make do with some everyday goods. You'd be surprised with ahat you could make.

you might want to translate it into german and then google it as many of the costume companies are german or at least the better ones are.
