Steppe bandits cripple Khuzait villages

Khuzait villagers are easy targets and steppe bandits are too fast for anyone to catch. This is an issue, as khuzait villagers never get their goods to market - never getting a prosperity boost, and the khuzait kingdom starts the game with a policy that slowly drains a villages hearths. Eventually, some khuzait villages, especially those on the border of the map, will be completely worthless. Villagers should at least have militia protection, or better, have militia go on patrols around fiefs and deal with bandit groups. It would also be very helpful for khuzait villagers to actually be mounted, giving them the speed bonus necessary to avoid steppe bandits.

Life is tough on the steppe. Plz don't nerf steppe bandits... they're my favourite recruits.

Maybe Khuzait villager militia should include low level horse archers.

That would make them more survivable - steppe bandits are actually pretty weak if you have the means to catch them - just not if your force is mostly foot mobile peasants.

Militia escort sounds good. Patrols are not that effective since the bandit can catch the villagers while the patrol is somewhere else.

Please no. They already bully entire Calradia by being faster than them, they should also suffer when someone else is faster.

Their village parties have never been faster. No mounted units = no Cavalry bonus, no Cavalry bonus = no Khuzait bonus (10% of Cav). Meanwhile, steppe bandits are 100% mounted but without the Khuzait bonus.

I didn't mean peasants being faster, I meant Khuzait war parties in general. What steppe bandits do to their peasants is what they do to the rest of Calradia. Engage if stronger, a definite catch since you're faster, flee if weaker and they can't catch you. So steppe bandits are quite Khuzaits of Khuzaits, hence I appreciate them very much.

The day we see manhunters in this game will be a very happy day. But village militia patrols also sound very good. Everytime I catch bandits I hear this in my head

My ideas for Bandits

1) Stop tying their spawn rate for parties and hideouts to Character Level. Bandit parties spawning should be based on time, security level of nearby settlements and the maximum size of bandit parties should be tied to Clan Tier of the Player.

2) Fiefs have a zone of control or engagement. If a hostile party bandit comes within that range, the militia of that fief will engage with proper numbers.

3) Villager party sizes increase based on Hearth size and power of notables.

4) Villager parties will take a portion of the militia (15-20%) with them when they travel.

Steppe bandits (the low tier one) shouldn't even get a normal cav bonus because they're cheating and riding sumpter horses! They're not even fast in battle either.

Khuzait always seem to do aright despite having the steppe bandits (some villages have it so bad lol), but we should pay attention in 1.6 to see if thier -tax starts to effect thier war efforts over time.

I love the steppe area and the crazy bandit clusters.
