I bought Mount and Blade: Warband but i didn't buy it on steam. Is there a way i can get it on steam?

I got the game first then i got steam.

I think you can enter the code into steam and it activates onto Steam

activate steam then in the bottom left corner in your library it says activate a non-steam product click it and select warband of the list

All it says is "add a non-steam game", "activate a product on steam" and "browse the steam store for games". which one do i choose? Or do i have to do it in some kind of order because when i choose  activate a product on steam and i have to put in a serial key, i put in the correct serial key which i wrote down but it says that it's an invalid product code and when i choose add a non-steam game it puts it on but it doesn't show achievements and stuff. please help me
