Steam version of Warband - offline play

Not sure if this was asked already - but can I play the Steam version of Warband while offline (obviously, single play, not multiplay)? If yes, how do I go about doing that? BTW, I have the hard copy of the game (ie on cd, not downloaded from steam).
My connection has been very erratic lately and it seems I spend more time offline than online.

Sorry if this is totally retarded question, nobody ever accused me of finding my way around computers

When you run steam if it doesn't detect a connection then it come up with a box to ask you to "retry" to find a connect or "run in offline mode". If you want to get that right away then you can just turn off your modem when playing.

yeah it does that, but there is no 'run in offline mode' option, only 'retry'



Ofcourse, it could be that I'm just blind like a bat?

So how do I run it when offline?!

You can start Steam in offline mode(even when connected to internet), but I'm not sure if you can play warband then, you'll have to try

Start Steam, Go to file/start/options or somethin and "switch to offline mode".

If you have the hard disk copy shouldn't you just be able to remove it from the steam applications and run it independently?

Unless of course the boxed copy requires steam for some reason in which case:
Install Steam
Install Warband through Steam
Get the real code for Warband which I think involved right clicking on the icon in steam and then something else...
Uninstall Warband for steam
Download Warband from TaleWorlds and install it using serial number.

Also iirc for offline mode when you have no internet connection and weren't already logged in you need to have set Steam to remember your log-in details when online.
