Steam version crash

I've been having an issue with my MaB:W where it crashes every time I try to enter a town or load the main map after a battle.  This issue has hit not only the main game, but all mods I've downloaded for it.  I bought and downloaded the game through Steam, and the kicker is that I have no problems when Steam is running and connected to the internet, but running it in offline mode gets me nowhere.  I don't think it is a problem with Steam, since I have other games through them that have no issues running, online or off.  This really wouldn't be much of an issue normally, but I'm deployed to Iraq at the moment, so having steady, reliable access to internet is out of the question.  Anybody having the same issue, or know how to fix it?

I get the same problem, and would also like a solution, as my internet is iffy as well. Sorry I'm not much help, but I don' want to start a new thread.

I have had a problem just like the OP and found if you enable cheats you wont get the crash anymore (at least I stopped having them). I would just like to know why that works.

there are all sorts of weird fixes for this one, but no one seems to know why they work...  Try running it on one processor (ctr+alt+delete, processes, right-click on M&B, click one processor) or disabling particle systems
