Steam + M&B = No go...?

When I run VALVe's Steam (or at least, when I run Steam while getting updates for games, because I just reinstalled Steam) and open up M&B to kill some time (not to mention sea raiders), it's fine. Then I load my game AND IT GOES DOWN THE ****TER. It's not that big a deal, since these updates will be done by tommorow, but I don't know if M&B just doesn't run while Steam updates games, or it doesn't run with Steam at all, which is what worries me, a little bit... sort of... okay, I guess it's more of a curiousity thing now, but it's still weird, and kinda interesting.

I click "Restore" and it waits some 30 seconds, then... right when it's about to get to the world map with my character's studliness... BAM. Hello, there, Quake 4 wallpaper. Wait, what the hell did you do with my M&B?
Anyone perchance happen to know why water vapor and realistic medieval combat don't mix in a pot?

I have had them both running at the same time and had no problems.

Other than the fact that steam is a pile of crap that shouldn't be installed on anyone's computer ... but I digress.

I concur wholeheartedly. The concept is a complete failure, because all the people with keygens (who must be 20% of us, apperently) will get in first, on the day Steam comes out, and then legit people (20% of us couldn't play) can't play. That's why it's a completely retarded idea. I guess that's another topic, for another time though, sadly, since I like putting down crap that sucks. Anyway, thanks for the answers, though.

hmm strange, steam works fine for me, and i always buy the steam games through steam aswell ( so i don't need any keys ) , its even faster than going to a store and buying a game, updates are done in a few minutes usually.

but it is a bit ahead of its time since tons of people are using dialup or dsl.

This topic is quickly turning into something other than a bug report.

*cough*steamsucks*cough*

Sorry ... drank some coffee and it tasted like crap. Maybe it was the steam that tasted so bad. Anyways ...

I tested it again and actually was playing a game, 'The Hidden' (HL2 mod), at the same time as having a game of M&B running ... no problems.
