They'd sue steam -  not Taleworlds. And people don't have to use steam if they don't wish to.

Steam isn't that popular

Steam is very popular, due to the fact that Half-Life and Counterstrike are so popular.

I would rather strike a deal with a giant like Wall Mart, who already showed interest, and make sure it show up at all big game distributors

After that it goes like a snow storm and cannot be stopped.

You don't need steam to do that

If Armagan decides not to release a boxed version, he can't sell it at Wal-Mart, or other supermarket giants.

Large companies molest smaller, non-mainstream company games.

Um, M&B already has a distribution deal with Paradox, and they're significantly bigger than Valve ...

What possible damage could a DISTRIBUTION SERVICE do to M&B?

In the case of something like Steam, which would demand a different version, quite a bit. Imagine for example if the Steam version was restricted to the latest compatible version rather than latest update, you'd get everyone who bought the game using Steam complaining, and sod all you can do about it since it's in Valve's hands.
