State of the Mod/RP?

Been a while since I played this mod. Wanna go at it again, but I'm afraid it lacks RP and is essentially deathmatch with light roleplay like it was before.

When I played before, it was "Oh hey we've got a castle and a leader. What should we do now?......OMFG lets go kill [insert team here]"

So before I (potentially) waste my time downloading the updated mod, how's the roleplaying sitting? Randoming still rampant? That kind of stuff.

Essentially the difference between the servers is that United_Roleplay is European and more castle warfare and HCRP is more groups of commoners and outlaws doing whatever they do.

There's no roleplay to be found anywhere unless you happen upon one of the events.

To be honest only the bolded is correct.

HCRP does have various castles wars every once and awhile and there is RP on HCRP when there isn't any events.

Less team work in general, actually; I've found myself getting on the Roleplay server now and again and there are always doctors and engineers to be had and people generally operate in groups and belong to a faction even if they're hanging out in town.

Perhaps the HCRP crowd yet has something to learn from this...

At any rate, if you look around and don't have high expectations in every person on the street you'll eventually come across people willing to RP with you Elidor. But don't expect much in the way of RP from most factions, or most commoners/outlaws.

I'm not denying that, but it is there, but it's very disorganized unfortunately.

The lack of Admins is very disheartening as well, I've only seen Freidrich and Topgeneral in the past few weeks whenever I popped on, And even they're rarely on.

This would require the HCRP community to want to become more of builders/healers/whatever
instead of doing actual RP.

Of course noone's going to craft weapons and hit trees if he wants to roleplay.

Yeah Friedrich is the only one I've seen on consistently lately. Seen a couple others but mostly they're just alts.

I don't know what some of you guys have been smoking, but if you actually put in some effort you can easily find or start some role play, even on the role play server (EU).

Over the last couple of days I have had some great role play, some with random strangers, others like today, with a role play family. I personally dislike castle wars as my game lags too much and my connection is not brilliant.

Disagree, plenty of admins on just choosing to roleplay. For instance I got called on by players yesterday due to lack of admins and surprise surprise, 4 admins were on undercover rping instead of taking turns or something organized and helpful. I was most displeased. Not that we cannot roleplay but four admins on can easily coordinate with eachother for off times to keep the populace under control.

At any rate, playing the role of a serf or an engineer or a surgeon is something more interesting than "I'm another guy with a sword and I'm good/evil/doing-whatever-I'm-paid-to-do, nice to meet you."

Only if you lack the creativy to think of anything to RP other than your designated engine-role

You have to find the right people to RP with. Randomers are always there, and unfurtinatly will always be a problem. I have had some nice rp's on what supposed to be a light RP server so far. All that matters is get yourself known as an RPer, and people may join you.

p.s Here's some tips

Take a real name in the way of Name_Lastname or simular
Ask around oocly in local. Some people will lie, but thats a risc
Emote till your fingers hurt. If your walking around the town on a horse, do something, talk to a worker, or guard, or in the field ask for directions in a charastic manner etc

Right back at you; serfs and engineers and doctors don't always have to be doing menial work associated with their task.
