State of the Game?

Its fun with lots of mods to spice things up, but Native on its own gets dull pretty fast.

- AI is decent overall but not good in tournaments and sieges.

Is tournament AI really that bad, or is it that as players putting tons of hours into the game, we've gotten really good at beating it? I mean, I've got around 500 hrs in this game. I'd be pretty surprised if I came across any unit that I couldn't beat in a 1-on-1.

The tournament AI is so easy to beat, I have yet to lose a tournament since they changed the armor values in them. If I can win like this from day one of the campaign there's a big problem. It's poorly designed.

Yeah, but what I mean is that you're probably very good at combat, since you've probably been playing since launch. If they tuned the AI to give you a challenging fight, it would be impossible for a new player.

As someone coming from warband I really enjoyed playing bannerlord right when EA dropped. It was crushing to me when the snowball came into play and I realized that my save file was going to have to die. It's cool if you want to check it out, and if you are going to play eventually, the cost will be the same.

If taleworlds doesn't eventually fix all of the issues, modders likely will. Personally I am waiting for snowball to be fixed somehow and for perks to be working completely before diving in again. I just do not want to

A) have my save file bricked by a kingdom that took over the whole world

or

B) work toward developing a character and find out that certain perks are bugged, do not work or are otherwise to be changed.

I'm a little fed up with people looking for the excuse that it's up to modders to do all the work, and I feel like that's probably what taleworlds is looking for.

And im fed up about all the bull**** that the modders have done all the work so its even xD

You would be surprised to see how many opponents you can beat just blocking or dodging (step back) the first incoming attack, and then perform two chained attacks. This is enough for winning 90% of duels against unshielded units.

This has to be made harder, in Viking Conquest it was hard sometimes to win a tournament. In mods like Nova Aetas is was nigh impossible in the early part of the game.

If you want a game to play casually and you plan to spend less than 40 hours on it before full release than I'd say get this game. If you want to dive deep into this game then I'd suggest waiting for EA to be over as there are so many broken/unimplemented things it becomes heartbreakingly unplayable once you actually feel around.

You don't even need 2 shots if its a Battanian tournament and you get a 2-hander. They really ought to bring back the wooden tournament weapons. Its kind of ridiculous that they give you full strength weapons to fight with. And then they made them all blunt damage so they're even stronger.

Or you could spend 1.1k hours like me and play it hardcore style xP its up to one each what they like and prefer i guess

This is my usual experience in tournaments, especially fighting 2 handers guys:

Even against Fians who has 130 weapon skill, AI is really bad blocking and feinting.

maybe because on this point it's a bit true
Is it now xD well thats your bubble then i guess even if i always had the biggest respect for the wonderful modders who had made a lot of games more enjoyable and interesting as they did it for free to... which im humble about

if you tried viking conquest you would be pleasantly surprised, especially if we were to compare it to bannerlord

and if I'm telling you about that it's because they were mostly made by modders

yeah already knew that and if they fixed it as it is as good as people say i have to try it out once more then. How long did it take them ? Did they built an whole new physics (because the combat was bad compared to warband) ? and a lot of new maps ?

This video shows better my point about how bad the AI is in tournaments. It is like something it just refused to block when it is getting chained attacks. It happens 90% of the times against unshielded units but sometimes it also happens with shielded units:
