Sergeant
So I've been playing this game for a while and I've gotten myself the goal of starting my own CKHO. Buuut, my current build is getting kinda stale as its a bit grindy capturing prisoners and training farmers up to Pendor whatevers.
So I'm looking for a fun, rewarding and good-for-starting-my-own-order start/build. So not just what options you pick but how you start off, where, what troops you train, companions etc.
PS I'm wanting to maximise the OPness of my order, so reccomendations of who should train them would be welcome!
Look forward to reading your posts and refreshing my PoP experience! Love the atmosphere of the mod.

Start off with Jocelyn to train the CKO stats faster. Once it hits the cap of Jocelyn, switch to Lethaldiran for more proficiency.

For 10 Iron Flesh, Power Strike use Sigismund. He is level 20 with 28 starting strength so getting 30 strength and 10 IF PS is very easy.

For 10 Power Draw, use either Julia, Ediz or Adonja, they all started with good str and Power Draw.

For 10 Power Throw, use either Kaverra or Alyssa. Alyssa started with bad str but 8 Power Throw while Kaverra started with less Power Throw but higher str.

For Riding, there are bunches of Knight companion with 6 or 7 riding, however Jocelyn is the best because of his 5 training.

The most overpower CKO is archer, with Noldor Composite Bow.

Ok I will remember that! I knew about Lethaldrian being good fro training to really high, but its good to know about sigismund with the Ironflesh and Powerstrike, Really good to make heavy knights that are also good as Infantary in Seiges.

Still interested to hear about peoples preferred starts/early game, I want to start a new character for this.

Get a lance, go out couching vanskerries. The trick is to run circle  around them until they've wasted all their throwing ammo, then start picking on individuals.

Hire multiple noble adventurer and upgrade them to rouge knight, not adventurer, never miss the chance to recruit some rouge squire (the one that go with outlaws) to upgraded them into rouge knight. That's how most people would start.

Check the arena casually to know where tournaments are hold, go and get the prize, sometimes you can get awesome stuffs.

Ask traveler for rumor, the more the better to get more money from treasure chest. Hire Ansen, Leslie, Kassim, Riva, those low level companion first. At level 15 you must make sure to get the 2 free qualis gem already and spend them on juice so you get to put more point in int.

The weapon of choice for me is morningstar and lance, 2 shields. Give all your companion lance and horse as well, they can do good at lancing. I prefer the light lance for companion because they can also poke with it.

Previously thats what I had been doing more or less, but I'll definately have a go of the rouge knights INSTEAD of Adventurers, I've only used them at the same time so didn't really notice the difference because I wasn't looking.

I prefer Rogue Knight over Adventurer because they spawn with more better horse, good weapons, and does not suffer from the mercenary wage which means you can halve your weekly payment.

You can get rouge squires for free by capturing them and then freeing them in the camp menu. Sometimes they'll escape, but still, cheaper than buying adventures.

They are both prone to die anyway, but rogue squires/knights spawn with better weapons and ponies, and they are cheaper to maintain and faster to train.

Build up your renown as fast as you can by fighting often and against bigger numbers, using a small (max 30) party of rogue knights and companions. Don't wait too long to become a vassal because you want your castle as soon as possible to start training your cko. That's why you want to hurry to get renown, too. You also get loot and experience, prisoners and wealth. Take your Blunt Tipped Lance and poke Vanskerries in the face.

Something I do like to do is become a mercenary for any faction at war on multiple fronts or a faction that just declared war recently.
Now you're earning money instead of losing it paying your men.

What you do then is pick your battles carefully.

When fighting alongside other lords, you essentially just reduce your own casualties and you get to pick at any prisoners the enemy lord was carrying. You can build up a middle-tier army pretty quickly just by rescuing prisoner trains.

But then again, if you're going for the earliest CKO, vassal may be the better option here. You can still gain all the above benefits except the mercenary pay and the ability to switch sides without pissing anybody off.

As a vassal you can ask lords to follow you, then have them take a fief for you, and then sit in it to help out

habeo123: Ok, so when we are talking about rouge Knights, do we mean the ones upgraded from nobles?
If so, which kind is best? I've been using Western and eastern mostly.

Shingen: Personally, I would never outright buy adventurers (or most other high cost troops for that mattter) outright in taverns, except from the 'rumors guy'.

Nikomakkos: Blunt tipped lance?  Since when has such greatness existed!  I will search for one of them Immediately!
I was curious though. If I start an order in a specific castle or town, will it be 'locked' to staying there? Can I move it? and are there any benefits/catches with starting in a castle as opposed to a town?
Also, in native and some other mods I've played Monarchs would offer vassalage at a certain point. Does this still happen, or am I better off choosing a certain faction and doing my best to get a castle for myself?

Legojack261: I've kinda been doing the picking battles with good lords (like sitting in and doing nothing in a fight between singalian slavers and a lord) and claiming prisoners (the loot isnt usually good because of the number of troops involved on your side to make it a sure fight.
I'll probably do vassalage, as I want to have the castle asap and start my CKO.

Alavaria: Does this require a specific relation/persuasion or does this work all the regardless?

This still happens if you're running around the map with a lot of renown and no lord to follow, but their offer will almost always be a village up on the frontlines or a rather poor one that has been raided several times. Although, I'm not entirely sure if asking the king himself to let you join will get you a fief up front, as I've never tried doing so.

For females, asking the king gets you no fief.
For males, asking the king gets you the worst village the faction has. This is actually pretty bad.

Just join the faction and use the lords to get you some towns.

If they're at 0 relationship or better, just ask them to follow you. Wait for a feast or a marshal to start a siege then to ask everyone there to follow you, lead them to the town and attack.

Just make sure you have enough spare troops to garrison the town or you won't have it for very long. In my current game, Laria has changed hands about 6 times in as many months.

It helps to keep on telling nearby lords to flee to your town.

Also, if you "borrowed" the lords from a siege force, the enemy AI sometimes decides to go defend that fief rather than try and retake the one you grabbed.

I was always wary to ask lords to do what I want because I thought 'maybe if I tell them to flee they will have a go at me  ' haha
I will start abusing this
I've decided I'll start a game with:
1. Son of an Outlawed Knight
2. Served a Barclay Noble
3. Became a squire
4. Wanderlust
Then go to the Empire and try to get on good terms with them and take several of the lords to take (insert name of town with no knighthood order here) start doing anything and everything to earn money to fund the establishment of my CKO. Then, when I feel they are ready and in good number I shall unleash their fury upon the world

Does anyone have anything they would suggest to this? like is there anything this gameplan needs to work better/be more fun?

What town do you have in mind? I'm assuming you have noted down some which are easy to defend.

I think Martial lords will not "flee". (If you are marshal you can tell them to "go to").

I think Nal-Tar or Marleons depending on who The Empire is at war with. I really don't want to have an existing chapter in the city, and these are apparantly easy to defend and hard to seige, but I havent had the experience of seiging them yet.

If I start an order in a specific town, is it locked to that town though? Or can I change it? and does it become a minor faction like the others?
