Starting with negative relations?

I just started a new game, and I have negative relations with nobles and can't recruit troops. Does the character creation affect the relations you get in the beginning?

I don't know, but I think it's reasonable that not everyone will like you right out the game. As long as you can earn your way into the good graces of everyone who matters, I'd say that's a good bit of realism.

yea it makes sense, i just havent noticed that in previous playthroughs

I do know that if you start out with traits like Honest, Generous and Merciful that certain characters will have a -1 with you, although I've only noticed this with companions and the odd noble. Don't know about companions, but nobles are easy to get in the good graces of.

I noticed I had -2 relations with 2/3 of my babies the moment they were born.

Pretty sure it's how your traits(honor, cruelty, generous, close fisted, etc) interact with their traits.
