Starting M&B restarts my system.

Good day all, I've just downloaded Mount & Blade for the ol' PC here and got an exceeding bizarre result. I downloaded the game on a different machine a few days ago and it works like a dream. But when I tried to install it on this machine it did this:

The installer program loads fine and all of the files install but when I tell it run the game the screen turns black and the machine restarts.

My Computer has:

Windows XP
751 MHz AMD CPU
256 Mgs Ram
8 Meg NVIDIA Video card

Can anyone help me?

Those system specs seem a little off. Run dxdiag and see what it reports exactly.

Second, go into control panel -> system -> advanced -> startup & recovery.
Uncheck the box next to "Automatically restart"
Try again. You should get a blue screen error message rather than a restart. Exact text would be helpful, but look out for any file or device name (i.e. xxx.dll).

EDIT: I just tried to install the game and got this error message.

Error Opening File for writing:
"Crogram FilesMount&BladeInteriorsManifoldsmanifold1.txt"
Hit abort to abort installation,
Retry to retry writing the file, or
ignore to skip this file

When I click retry it gives me the same error, when I hit ignore it gives me the same error on the next file.

EDIT2: After running dxdiag it reported the following... why don't I send you a snapshot instead of typing the bugger out.

Okay, after installing DirectX 9.0 it worked just fine. Thanks for your help.
