starting a presentation from a dialog option

I have a dialog running, and want one of the dialog options to pop up a presentation. And when the presentation is closed, return to the dialog where we left off.  I can't get this to work.  In fact I can't even get the dialog to start the presentation.  Is this not possible?  Do we need some fiddly trick to make it so?

Jump to a menu, start the presentation and flip a global. Once the presentation ends initiate another conversation (set up visitors, and do  start_map_conversation or change_screen_map_conversation) and check the global from the appropriate conversation state, re-routing it to where you left off.

thanks was just sort of leaning toward this, but wanted to be sure there was not some easier way I was over looking.
