Knight at Arms
Hi all,

I tried to start a game at normal damage to myself and my troops however I found it is extremely hard if not impossbile. (I play my late games at normal damage all the time btw) Especially after recent patches since the archer accuracy got serious buff, I can't even approach to them and my troops get peppered with arrows/javelins by tagia and tundra bandits eventually get killed. This repeats so much time and I get bored and close the game.

So, is there any tips for a hard begining ?

Thanks in advance.

Shield and let your troop walk in front of you work wonder.
Later on after you have very good armor, you can leave you shield at home.

Let your troops charge in first. Once the enemy is preoccupied with your main forces, you can then gallop in and take them out.

Get a good helmet as well.

With normal damage, obviously the best defense for you is to never engage the enemy in combat. As a general, you are never meant to have a direct hand in the battle for fear of falling. You are supposed to lead them. So just remain at your starting place while your troops defeat the opposition.

Since you're Khergit, just massively recruit tribesmen in your villages, while avoiding Steppe Bandits. Then head to Rhodok territory and level your tribesmen a bit on mountain bandits. Then you can go anywhere.

The solution is having spotting, pathfinding and a horse. Then you can pick your fights and exclusively fight when and what you are equipped to defeat, whatever your party composition. To defeat Taiga bandits with footsoldiers you need either superior firepower (archers and crossbowmen) or armored and shielded infantry. The infantry should be in cover for as long as possible, if possible try to draw fire by riding full speed on the edge of the bandits throwing range. As soon as taiga bandits has fired all their jarids they are far more vulnerable to any kind of attack. Head on assaults over open ground with light forces (early game) will result in heavy casualties.
