yeah, I decided on Mercenaries = Rebels and Outlaws = Imperials but I do agree that having hired Stormtroopers was fun.  I almost went with having Imperial Soldiers as the Mercenaries and Rebel Soldiers as Outlaws and then you could play the part of the evil Empire trying to take over Calradia....  :wink:  However, I wanted to rename the Companions and it was easier for me to use Rebel names.  Anyway, I'll post my source soon (as long as people don't report any major problems) and then you can modify it as you want.  :smile:  It would be really neat if you could pick Rebel or Imperial when the game starts and then the mercenaries/outlaws switch but I wasn't sure how to program that...
 
Hank, in my SW minimod, you can still have Stormtroopers. (there are Stormtrooper mercs, Vaiegir guards, or rescued Looters)

I don't mind if you use this mod just make sure to give everybody credit, I also plan to post my source code soon if you want to look at that.  In terms of the MB Repository you have to zip up your entire Module folder that you have modified and then this would be uploaded not just the single module.ini file.
 
the wookies are way to powerful, i had an army or imeriails and jedi masters charging up a hill againt 40 wookies by the time we got to the top 2/3 of my troops were killed or KOed. then they pulled out their swords and killed the rest of us.
 
Did you not see my post about the try_for_range? You can still make armies of imperials or rebels that way, not mixed of course.

Anyway, downloading!

EDIT: not trying to be demanding here, I was giving a suggestion.
 
np, yeah I saw your post but didn't look into that functionality too much for two main reasons:

1) I wanted to rename all the Companions and since I used Rebel names it didn't make sense to have Imperial's in your party
2) This is my first mod and I just started learning python 2 weeks ago so I'm not all that good with scripting so far.  :wink:

If there is interest I could theoretically do a minor update of my Mercenaries mod that did two things:  give blasters to all troops and add your try_for_range suggestion so you could only have Rebel of Imperial mercenaries in your party.  Since the Companions wouldn't be renamed this wouldn't be too weird.  I think my latest 0.2 release is better but let me know if people have interest in what I just described or any comments on the latest release.  If people don't report any strange behavior or problems with 0.2 I'll post my source tonight.  My long term plan was to try and reduce the factions to only 2-3 with just rebel, imperial, and maybe a third but I'm not going to have time for that.  It would also be really neat if we could get Bandit King for 0.960 :smile:

The Sith Speeder or some of those character models would be great to add.  I don't have 3d Studio Max, would using these be possible or are they too high-poly?  If it is possible would somebody with 3dSMax be able to import some of these into a BRF so we could use them in this mod?

it would be really good in this mod if you there was a Jedi/Imperial/Sith/Rebel faction system and you could join them if you wished.
 
could you make clone trooper and arc trooper mercs please. make the guns more accurite, there not very good. but i really enjoy the lightsabre :mrgreen:
 
If there was some way of making some of the guns more "automatic", where you could just spam the mouse button and get somewhat accurate shots. Increaseding the speed of weapons and proficiency would probably make that doable now, but i was thinking more about the NPCs as well.


And any chance you could post update notes in the first post? I like to see what's been added in and stuff like that.


By the way, great mod, I'm enjoying it alot.

Clone and Arc Troopers require different models - models which Hokie doesn't have.

Can't wait for the source :grin:

Well, I reduced the weight of the laser bolts in version 0.2 so it seems like that helped accuracy a bit.  With a weapon proficiency around 250 and the DLT-19 I'm fairly accurate even on a speeder.  However, you are correct that the NPC's and even some of the troops don't have great guns or high weapon proficiencies.  The NPC's you can upgrade and give them better weapons, but somebody like the Rebel Recruit won't ever be all that great (which is probably fine).  However, I intentionally didn't want to make these too accurate or fire too fast since they do high damage so if they are super accurate you might have some REALLY quick battles...  :smile:  Having the accuracy in the 90 range allows people to actually run up to somebody and get some melee combat in as well.  If you do want to try adjusting the items or troops then you can either grab the source code when I post it tonight or use my Troop Editor (to increase troops weapon proficiencies & skills) and Jordan's Item Editor (increase max ammo, shoot speed, speed rating, etc) and I bet you could get these fairly 'automatic'. I think you have to be careful about making the shoot speed too high tho or it will pass through people.....  I don't have a lot of time to try out different settings but if you find something that works better post it here and we can think about adding it into a next release.  On thing that you won't be able to change is currently I have the blasters raise up a few degrees each time you fire them, so that would affect your rapid-fire accuracy.  Do people think this should be removed?

oh, having Clone and Arc Troopers is a good idea.  However, we don't currently have models for these troops (they would need to be created) and it looks like somebody is actually working on a Clone Wars Mod - http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,37769.0.html.  If that user makes some progress with creating models then possibly we could try and merge with them and have old Empire vs. New Empire or something like that.  :wink:
