Dryvus

Sufficiently Suffonsified
Archduke
Saw it last night, was unfortunately unprepared to dress up as Riker.
It was alright, although the plot was very weak. The actors mostly did a good job of emulating their predecessors, IMO. I liked how a couple of times, space was silent.
Anyone else see it?

I saw it, and mostly agree with Dryvus. Visually fantastic; it was damned cool when The Enterprise fired everything at the giant pinecone. A bit too many familiar faces, maybe.

About that, where did all that extra armament come from? You can't even put out that much firepower in the Legacy video game.

Apparently Spock isn't obligated by the Temporal Prime Directive to fix his ****up of the timeline, which I find odd.

I think they (tried) to cover that with the alternate reality bull**** they pulled.

So Picard can travel back in time to prevent the Borg from interfering with history in First Contact, but Spock (or for that matter: *anyone else*) can't do it to stop the Romulans from doing it? Yeah, they really didn't think that part through.

I really didn't mind them changing everything, I just wish they'd done it in a way that was consistent with the rest of the series. It all just seemed so random.

I liked (/sarcasm) how they didn't at all explain how he failed to prevent Romulus from blowing up.

He was too lazy? That seemed to be the explanation. And why did everything rely on Spock? A whole planet full of Romulans and they didn't manage to hatch a single plot that would save any of them?

True, but remember in this time line, they'd had a rather nasty encounter with a giant pine cone from the future 22 years before the enterprise was built. might have changed their philosophy.
