Stable master + alot of other related horse stuff

I think horses shouldn't be sold by the merchant, but instead have a new option of "Stable Master" in towns. Have a stable, with horses in their little section with hay and other horse stuff. Is it's possible, have an option to "test drive" horses on a racetrack like course.

Also instead of having the horses already armored, just have normal horses, spirited, heavy, lame, stubborn sold by the horse seller. I think armored horses like the warhorse and the charger should not really be readily able to buy. In addition to having normal, spirited etc. I would also like to see a option for a "Champion" horse to appear (very rarely) which has Spirited + Heavy combined.

I think you should be allowed by either King of the vaegirs/swadians after you have done either side alot of missions, an option to have a set of armor on a horse of your choosing for a price. Or even once you reach a certain rank (like seargent of arms for example), that you are worthy enough to have either kingdom's home town (where the king's live) personal blacksmith armor your horse up.

Another thing I would like to see, is customization of horses, like horse shoes made out of different metals that were available in the medievil times. For example; gold horse shoes that +2 to horse speed, or copper horse shoes that add +1 to manueverability. [[ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horseshoe ]] There's a alot of information here about horse shoes, mentioning horse shoes add traction which could help manuevering etc.

Other stuff like light weight sadles that add +1 to speed and manueverability. While heavy sadles add a little more armor, but their tradeoff is losing a bit of speed due to the added weight.

Another feature i would like with horses, is the ability to name them. It would be useful if your like me and you dismount the horse to use your crossbow, it would be good to see the horses name instead of "mount courser" or whatever it is now.

Another thing I would love to see, maybe at the 4 inn place, have a special horse whisperer, who for a fee, un-lame's/un-stubborn your horse.

Another thing I would like to see, is medevil events at King's hometowns. Like jousting, horse racing around a track (much like modern day horse racing), horse racing with hurdles to make things interesting.

Another thing, with my stable master idea, have a option to leave your horse with the stable master for 7 days, and he will train your horse to have +1 speed and/or +1 manueverabilty.

The "try out the horse before you buy it" bit is actually possible with the mod tools we have now, for that matter. Might be kinda interesting to be able to take each horse out for a "spin".
Even better would be a testing ground with a handful of weak club-wielding toughs to try the horse's charging ability out on, maybe one or two with a horse of their own. Of course it would cost you to try out the horse; those guys woudn't be run over by a horse for nothing, ya know.

I should have probably made another thread about this, but I think M&B is where it needs to be battle wise. Needs some more medievil atmosphere, like even archery competitions (against the champions of course) closest to hit the bullseye wins a special bow or something. But mainly of course, i would like to see more things with horses, after all they are important.

We still lack two very important aspects of combat, morale and stamina, which I think should be among the first things to be added.

I would personally think horses need quite a bit more depth in the game ::smile:
Generaly like the ideas, since most of them are what already have been suggested. A bit uncertain regarding the horse-shoes metal having a difference. Normally shoes are there to protect the horse's hooves from splitting or getting injured from the horse + rider riding through hard ground (eg. paved stone road, just stony ground etc.) Having it made of gold won't make a difference, and all the traction and stuff would qualify mainly for a race-track ::\
Although the skill of the ferrier who shoes the horses, WOULD have a difference since the horse needs to feel in balance, shoes must be of correct fit, hoof must be cut at a perfect angle etc.

First thing the horses need to do though, is stop disappearing from battlefield ::smile:

hi moodles,

i like your idea. it would be nice to be able to customize your horse like you can do with yourself .

Golden horseshoes make your horse faster? Ahh comeon, this game was supposed to be realistic!

Exept for that, I like you and your idea. Be proud.

But why would ANYBODY want to un-stubborn a horse? I love stubborn horses, they're fast!

An ol' good medieval tourney would kick ass, lanceman vs. lanceman! And of course, one can pick whether he wants the fight with blunt or real weapons, and hmm... If we wanna make it extreme, the winner claims the equipment and horse of the opponent

Very good ideas, exept the one about golden horse shoes

Maybe its just me, but I'd like to be able to let my horse stand in the stable beside the inn.

Actually, I'd not mind seeing horses having more randomish stats...so that no two hunters or chargers are identical...the "heavy", "lame" etc traits would still influence of course...

I really like the whole stables idea though and that the top end horses can only be obtained in more specialized places...

About the horseshoes, i only mentions those metals because i wasn't sure exactly what was available during medievil times. Maybe with a strong metal in the horseshoe, the horse feels a bit more confident just to push a little bit harder. I know gold by itself is actually a very fragile metal, gold rings etc actually contains tin to stabilise it.

I like Volkier's idea
Although the skill of the ferrier who shoes the horses, WOULD have a difference since the horse needs to feel in balance, shoes must be of correct fit, hoof must be cut at a perfect angle etc.

Whatever metals are available, and whatever metals a shoe is made of, it doesn't really have much effect on the horse's performance. The balance of the shoe, however, may cause a horse to clip their heels, dish out their feet, and sometimes even develope a limp. The difference in weight doesnt really make any difference to the horse, as long as the legs remain in balance, since the weight is quite minor, and doesnt take a horse long to get used to.
