Speed and Charge

I always wonder, which horses stat affects 'speed bonus'? Currently horse has 'speed' and 'charge' but never clear which one is used to calculate speed bonus.

im not expert but i think it works like this....

Speed - determines how fast you go

Charge - determines how much damage you do when you charge a unit...

as i said im no expert on the matter so im not sure if charge gives and speed bonus'....

hope this helped :D

I believe charge determines the trampling damage that the horse inflicts, and also the momentum loss of trampling over an opponent.

Basically, jsut pretend that charge = weight.

When you ram enemies with your horse, it's the charge rating that matters mainly, although you need a certain speed for maximum effect. Get a heavy charger and you'll be hitting enemies with the equivalent force of a locomotive :p

Speed bonus is basically the extra speed (and thus weapon force) you have from your horse (and I think also the enemy speed if he is mounted) when you swing your weapon and hit him.

Charge not only affects the amount of damage you deal when you slam into them, but the chance that they will be knocked out of the way. If you have a low charge, and aren't moving very fast when you hit someone, your horse will rear and you'll be cut down in short order. Speed also has to do with this charge power. If you had a high charge, but are moving slow (maybe you're going up a hill when you run over someone) you will still rear rather than trample them. In short, you'd better have a warhorse or charger (preferably spirited) if you expect to plow through enemies.

Speed is how fast your horse can go as a theoretical maximum.

Charge is a function of armor/tank like.

If you like lancing or horse archery, a spirited courser (speed) or a spirited hunter (maneuver) is best.

If you like melee knight, then spirited charger is the best. Aim for the middle of the enemy formation and swing your sword/axe to either side. A single pass from charging damage and hacking damage through the middle of an enemy formation will likely result in 200-300 total damage dished out.

Speed and charge is whether you want a race car or a tank.

Kinda find myself never needing spirited chargers if I got maxed out riding. I'd rather take the heavy charger for the extra armor and charge damage. Speed and manouverability is good enough as it is by then anyway :P

Prefer speed and maneuverability to charge. I like to be able to turn round and have time to gallop towards oncoming horseman.

You can't imagine how happy I am to see that the Talewords guys have gotten the lancing damage right. The world is full of people who think that having a huge horse is important for lancing. Lancing damage is all in the speed of the horse (ok, and the weight of the _rider_ to some extent)

It's all physics, boys and girls.

Oh, and my preferense? A spirited courser all the way. In the first person view the feel of speed and power is unbelievable.

I also love a spirited courser. Being able to outrun your cav foe and then turn around and lance them is very important. The quicker lance drop also makes me prefer these over chargers in general.
