Special Weapons and Armour

OK, I've found one of the special smiths - well two actually, but when I tried to visit the second one again he wasn't there, just a normal weaponsmith - and asked them about special items, but they told me I need more renown. My renown is over 500. So what's the threshold before they'll talk to you?

Those special smiths, are they simple armor or weapons vendors? Or are they separate NPCs?

simple armor and weapon vendors. you need to walk around town and speak with them. the items do not show up in the regular vendor (i know this may be obvious just trying to be through). not all weapon and armor vendors btw. only in certain cities. the beer wench or barkeep can tell you who and where for a little money.

I went on a mad quest to get my renown high enough to get the special items, then went pillaging like mad to get enough money for them... and they're all horrible, except the Dena helmet.

Whoever did the mesh for the Sutton Hoo Helmet... no. Just no.

Please re-do the special items to make them worth getting!

The Saxon Prince helmet is lovely.
The Saxon Nobleman helmet looks a bit clumsy and not very fear-inspiring.

It's the looks. The Dena noble's helmet is fine, no complaints there, but the Sutton Hoo helmet looks rubbish. The face-plate is flat and just hangs there on the front of the helm. The side-plates are too big and touch the shoulders. The neck-guard is too big as well. The textures are poor too. The whole thing needs re-doing.

The wolf armour is just the tribal warrior outfit from native retuxtured. Do us an awesome lorica hamata or similar, or maybe a long hauberk with gold trim, wolf fur and nice details like belts.

yes but you sacrifice some hefty 3 points from power strike and athletics. Sometimes I don't think it's actually worth it (btw I got it from a tournament)

Why does reknown decrease over time?

I'd love to do that. I don't have the software or expertise to do so, however.

It's not like in vanilla if I remember it correctly.

And even though... let's say there is a ruthless viking warrior invading a country. If doesn't do anything in particular in 6 months people don't just forget him that quickly but in game, the difference can be vast after so many days but in reality this isn't true.

I agree you could drop some reknown but not so much so quickly.

true, but if you just sit on your ass doing nothing, people will eventually forget you, or move their attentions towards someone more active.

if you're 3 guys raiding the same approximate area and you go away for 6 months, I'm pretty sure the natives will stop giving you much thought as there's still 2 raiding them right now.

(I'm not saying this is the answer, this is just why i think reknown drops )

Oh, ok. In that case, I take all my words back. Seems that I haven't noticed that although I was playing it for quite a long period.

Well I'm not entirely certain, but i seem to remember losing reknown over time in vanilla as well.

In either case, whether it's just this mod or vanilla as well, it's a tad extreme, I'll concede to that xD
