"Special" armies stopped appearing ?

Hello everyone.

I really love this mod, so much that recently I decided that I would rule Pendor. So here I went on starting my own rebel kingdom...
Now to this effect I use some tweaks, most notably the tweak allowing you to make peace while a rebel. Yeah I know, it's not the hardcore gamer way, but I never claimed to be one.

Anyway, here's my question. I noticed lately that there were no more "special armies" (ie huge Jatu, Vanskerry, or peasant armies) appearing, while there were some time ago, before I began my conquest (and even maybe at the beginning of it, I don't remember very well). Is it normal ? Or not ? When I say that no more of these appear, I mean that I have not seen any in, say, one-two months.

Might that have to do with me tweaking some text files (even though I only tweaked "native" parts AFAIK) ?

And yes, I realise it is bad form to ask for "tech support" when you have done your own noobish, happy-go-lucky homebrew tweaking, so if you want to ignore this question, point at me and laugh, please feel free to do so.

Hello Tova,

Thanks for the post.

I am not sure I can help you, but I will do my best.

The armies in Pop 1.21 are random and have a small chance per 48 hours of appearing.  There is no shut-off or repression of their appearing like there is in version 2.0.

The chance of them appearing is less than 1% per 48 hours.  The chance is inclusive.. meaning that one randomization process is initiated and based upon the variable randomized one thing will happen.  Those things can be any number of armies, or events.  What this means in game terms is that you will not spawn a Heretic army and a Vanskerry army in the same 48 hour period.

If your tweaks modified either the random number generated (it is 1-1000), and lowered it to say 1 to 100 or eliminated it, or perhaps even eliminated the routine completely, then you may have some issues.

Most likely from what you have revealed, this is just a matter of bad luck.  It is entirely possible to play a whole game and not see one of those armies... or conversely get swamped by a few all at the same time.

I hope that this helps..

Best,

Saxondragon

It does indeed. Thank you very much for the kindness and responsiveness with which you are developing this mod and making it live. It's really pleasant to see such dedication...

Well, I had thought about what you described, but was worried, on account of my tweaks (which I don't think are responsible, though) and because back in the days, messages kept on popping about armies, hordes of Vanskerry raiders, the unification of the Jatu tribes, etc. Darn it, I suppose that now that I have my own kingdom (I ate all of Sarleon) they're afraid. Figures.

Hey, it's me again. A strange thing happened. I went on to beat a huge Jatu army that was wandering in Jatu lands since a long, long while ago. It was a long battle, but I was eventually victorious. Then about one day after that, I get a message about a heretic army with demonic warriors. After months of nothing. Strange coincidence !

Anyway, that's cool. Demonic warriors. Always wanted to try these.

The same thing that makes this true also might make it so that you cannot have more than one army in play at a time. This is just a guess though as I don't have much experience with programing at all.

Not at all.. you can have I think up to 10 or so armies at the same time.. just not actually spawning at the same time.

Ha, this kind of happened to me, the two armies in 48 hours. I was playing, and I got a Jatu message, then about 1 minute later (like a few hours in game time) I got a message saying that a Snake Cult army appeared.
