Spear wall?

How do I perform a spear wall with my troops? I have a mixture of guys who have spears, I group them all together, and there is still only a shield wall option... I don't see a spear formation. Anyone know?

Yeah, spears are crap right now. I was building up an army of well trained infantry. Got to war with the empire and ran into a party of 49, mostly cav units. Deployed my men and they stood with their swords in hand, spears on the back. Got mowed down with all my 86 men and now im stucked as alltime prisoner in imperial territory.

I find the circle formation pretty good against cavalary

In MP, if you shield wall, and equip your spear, the rest of the troop seems to follow suite.

I'm not sure what the process is inSP.
