As long as it doesn't get out of hand, there shouldn't be anything wrong with that.

I've actually thought of suggesting that myself ... more of a chat-room type of thread where the subject shifts quite frequently.

Yet do try and keep it clean and remember that the regular forum rules still apply: no attacking (jokes between friends usually excluded) or any of that ilk.

You might have logged on during a .netsplit, since it constantly has at least seven people.

No, as it specifically says in the IRC thread, the channel is not TW, nor is it bound by TW's rules.  Ergo, the ops can ban at whim.

Cool. I like it when threads are unrestricted, but it seemed like when anything was going
off topic recently, it got squished.

Isn't that more of a chat room? I don't really feel comfortable in them. I like to be able to
catch up on a series of posts, and deal with them all at once.

Agreed. Real time internet conversations are too much of a hassle. I have trouble staying on track of messages with only three people on the msn, not to mention if there were seven or more =o.o=
