[SP] Real siege camp

This idea comes for the bug tracker as an alternative to the denied Inventory Chest access during a siege.  http://bugs.taleworlds.com/edit_bug.aspx?id=1704

Problem:  During a siege, while the tower is being built and between attack waves, the besieger is unable to access inventory in order to change equipment and upgrade troops that leveled while the towers were being built.  The defending party, at the other had, may leave the siege between defense waves, change equipment, upgrade troops and even save the game.  This is contrary to the fact that the defending party is besieged and should have much less freedom than the attacking party.

The suggestion is that a real siege camp map is added to the game.  Just a tiny map with a couple of tents where the player could walk and talk with other lords who are part of the siege.  Inventory, character sheet and party screen would be accessible via the hot keys I, C and P.  Tab key would return the player to the good old siege menu which would offer the option to enter the siege camp map. 

That would solve the limitations, add a depth to sieges and additionally allow the player to talk with all the lords who are part of the siege so that quests can be acquired and proceeded (not just the commander of the siege).

This addition should have minimal impact to the game from technical point of view, because it would change none or very little of the current content - probably only the siege menu.  And thus would pose little risk that something else is broken during the process.

It's pretty annoying when I often have more than one NPC with trainer skill and a lot of my troops are leveling up while I'm besieging enemy's castle and I can't do anything ;/
 
Not often that you see a suggestion this simple and well thought out. Couldn't agree more.

Yeah, that's god idea too, but possibility of choosing units should be both on open battlefield and sieges. :smile:
 
yup! no complaints. i think what m&b needs to focus on now is immersion. the combat mechanics are great already and are really what hooked me originally, but details like this would make the game less bland and that much more enjoyable.
 
I agree with OP 100%. Another thing that bugs me about besieging is that you can't leave without abandoning the siege unless you are attacked. If you are attacked while building ladders or a tower and you win the fight, you can run around on the map and even raid a nearby village without interruptning the build, just like the AI parties do. But if you're not attacked you have to wait without being able to access Inventory, Party och Character and without being able to raid villages for food. Therefore there should be an option on the siege menu reading "Leave siege camp" or something like that.
 
I agree with everythign said here, now if someone knows a programmer or how to make a mod, please be kind and make one with these features :grin:

Well, have they? any news on this? I really want this, especially for upgrading my recruits and accessing my inventory
